Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

I highly recommend SAGE Intacct! We use it as our primary accounting software. It's very easy to pull reports, conduct expense approvals, journal entries, or whatever else you need. I use it to export information to Excel all the time for analysis at the department level. Makes life easier to have everything in one place.

Pros

  • Export financial information into Excel.
  • Hyperlinks taking you to support documentation.
  • Pull reports.

Cons

  • Budgeting at the department level.
  • Lots of clicks to get to information at times.
  • For non-accounting staff, the ability to see specific information, like a bank account balance, rather than a traditional accounting view.
  • Allows us to close the books every month in under 10 business days.
  • Allows 27 departments to be integrated from a financial perspective.
  • Allows us to be compliant with over 100M in grants and contracts.
The automation piece enables us to bring SOPs to life, ensuring that policies are implemented and followed through rules-based permissions. In addition, that adds to the integrity of the underlying data being fed into the system by 27 departments. From this centralized data source, we can run various reports at the department level to address business needs regularly.
We are just now beginning to use SIP, the budgeting module. It remains to be seen how successful we will be in implementing this module and getting a tighter hold on our budgeting process. We do not have the multi-entity and global consolidations module. I don't think we have the project accounting, time and expense management, contract revenue management, and spend management pieces either.
I am not the primary person who would configure the system. SIP, the budgeting piece seems to be a little tricky to set up. I believe we hired a consultant to help us with this piece.
SAGE is a better product for an organization of our size, particularly with our accounting team. It integrates 27 departments, enabling us to customize reports and workflows more effectively. We have easily outgrown QuickBooks.

Do you think Sage Intacct delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Sage Intacct's feature set?

Yes

Did Sage Intacct live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Sage Intacct go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Sage Intacct again?

Yes

SAGE is great for mid-sized businesses with many departments. Keeps the data running through all those departments tightly and allows you to run reports in ways that you need them. We are still experiencing issues with the budgeting component of SAGE and are attempting to implement it across the entire organization.
