Working Remotely Made Easy
Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop Enterprise
Splashtop is being used to remotely access office systems from locations outside of the office. With specialized programs that are not otherwise accessible, it has become a key tool.
Pros
- The ability to remote print to a local printer
- The ability to log into another computer within the business to access programs and files, not on your computer
- The ability to work on large files and be able to directly transfer them to a specific location on another computer without needing to move through dropboxes or zipping for email accommodation
Cons
- When printing remotely to a local computer, it would be helpful if you didn't need to minimize your current screen to see the printer popup on the local computer so that you could finish the print procedure.
- The ability to be at the office without being at the office can be a huge commute saver
- You may find yourself working a bit more as your desktop is now accessible from home or even from your phone
I think Splashtop does a good job of setting up security features. The person with the account needs to be physically present to install the links and there are multiple email verifications to ensure that the requests are by the account holder.
I found the setup to be really easy. We were up and running in a couple of minutes. the connection speed has always been good.
Yes - Many years ago we used LogMeIn but the pricing became more than the value it was providing. One person in the office was using Microsoft remote desktop but the connections were at times tough to maintain and it was felt there were some security issues.
