Overall Satisfaction with UltiPro
We are using UltiPro to process payroll in house. Our employees have access to their UltiPro information via the web. I chose UltiPro in 1997 to replace a very old home grown AS400 system. UltiPro has always been able to solve all my payroll problems with paying multiple types of employees and maintaining records for 1600 employees of which only 120 are year round; the rest are seasonal. We deal with four unions and employees from all over the world.
Pros
- Programmable earnings types. If I need to create an earning code for a specific employee - it is not a problem.
- Health Care Reform has been a nightmare made easier by UltiPro and their extensive research and programming capabilities.
- I have a paycheck going out every day of the week in the summer months and this has never been a problem.
Cons
- I have yet to process payroll on the web portal. I still use back office for this process.
- Sometimes their programming goes so deep that I find myself overwhelmed with details.
I am currently working on the reporting side of this. I run the reports and hand them out manually. I have numerous general ledger accounts I need to get organized so the reports can be generated and pushed to managers automatically. In time this will be a great time saver and amazing tool for my managers.
No comparison - it's like have a full basket of fruit instead of just the stem.

Using UltiPro
1600 - Employee self service for 1200 and payroll processing and reporting for two. My 1200 seasonal employees are able to get their payroll and tax information no matter where they end up when they leave for the season. Many of them return each year and love the online access. My managers love the history that has been built in core since 1997.
2 - Both myself and my assistant are HR certified as well as accounting back grounds. The love of numbers and people are a requirement to process payroll the way we do. Our summer season forces us to gear up for 1400 returning and new employees each year. We have four different unions and a paycheck that is due everyday. Our turn around time for many checks is less than 24 hours. This is all accomplished by two employees. We could not do this without UltiPro.
- Online access for employees.
- Up to date and accurate payroll knowledge from UltiPro staff. They stay on top of new taxes etc.
- Ease of use for myself and assistant to process payroll accurately. I have numerous pay calculations and UltiPro gets them spot on.
- I cant say there have been any surprises. We pretty much knew what we needed and wanted and UltiPro delivers.
- Changing from our current recruit and on boarding company. Using one system from start to finish would be ideal.

Yes - AS400 - they were archaic and not user friendly.
