ADP
It's particularly helpful for small medical practices with multiple providers and support staff. It's not only time-saving, but it's easy to change/update provider salaries that frequently change based on service income. We also use ADP for our worker's compensation insurance and processing, which is also a time-saving (and money-saving) feature we like.

Wagepoint
I highly recommend Wagepoint, especially for start-up companies. Their fees are really cheap and the quality of their work is really good. They may have room for improvement on the reporting side, but given their flexibility, they can always find a way to help your organization. I definitely recommend Wagepoint.

Cons
ADP
  • Reports... in the past there was a CENSUS report that could be run with certain information, I am unable to find that report these days.
  • Would be nice to have more options to create CUSTOM reports with information the company needs vs. the information ADP allows.
  • Easier way to see the REMINDERS/NOTIFICATIONS in RUN Powered by ADP®. I don't access RUN Powered by ADP® daily so it would be nice to get notifications sent via EMAIL when there is a new reminder of notification.

  • Reports need to be improve. You cannot customize your preferred report. Thus, manual reporting happens at times. But you can't complain on the cost.
  • Flexibility on late notice of payroll processing. Lowering additional fees could help us.
  • Need to ask clients for feedback on the use of system.

ADP
It is much better than the payroll system I used previously. The integrations that RUN has for on-boarding new hires are very convenient when they work properly. It saves a tremendous amount of time being able to email a link to new employees that allows them to enter much of their own demographic information. Payroll feature alerts me when someone's pay is significantly less or more than usual.

Usability
ADP
I have been using this system for years and they have actually made it easier and easier. The system is always making great upgrades that don't necessarily require any additional information or training. I love when I log in and see a new feature or button that I get to use to make my life easier!

Reliability and Availability
ADP
We've had very little issue with RUN availability, only a couple times there were outages when least expected which occurred on our actual payroll due date

Performance
ADP
ADP Run loads a bit slowly at times, once I put in my credentials. However, that said, I think my perception of the time it takes is impacted by our "instant gratification" expectation of being able to get into everything quickly.

I appreciated having that issue finally take care of. it was extremely disheartening to see the issue had not been resolved. I also had my employees looking to me and thinking I was not trying to resolve the issue so it reflected poorly on my character. I do not know if i was because of a miscommunication, but nonetheless I was happy it was taken care of

Make sure there's plenty of time between payrolls for the implementation and be sure to test all the manually inputted fields.

Alternatives Considered
ADP
RUN Powered by ADP® is easier to navigate and much easier to use than some of the other payroll providers. The customer service is available and easy to understand. Their response time is far better than other payroll providers. They are reliable and take responsibility for ensuring taxes are paid on time.

Wagepoint
Wagepoint is great for our Canadian employees, as Gusto does not support multi-national workforces. However, Gusto provides a much more robust system with which you can manage employees salaries, healthcare benefits, and additional benefits. Gusto also provides ample data with which to evaluate costs, understand employees, and forecast future costs, which Wagepoint does not support.

Scalability
ADP
Every summer, we hire three new college interns who have to be entered into the system. They can enter their information themselves, which takes a load off me. The onboarding is quite straightforward, and today's college kids are techy enough to be able to understand it.

  • The one singular place RUN Powered by ADP® has saved me time is in calculating and reporting PTO for employees. With over 30 employees it is nice to know it is accurate and available through the last date of the last payroll processed.
