Overall Satisfaction with RUN Powered by ADP®
I've used ZipRecruiter. It was a bit challenging to customize for our needs, but a good option to have. ZipRecruiter allows one free ad at a time, which is very helpful. We got a significant amount of resumes. Have also used the Background Check service, which is nice because it's free for a basic search.
It is used for payroll processing, time and attendance, as well as Background checks with the HR Portal. Included in time and attendance are leave accruals and requests.
Pros
- Onboarding new hires: acquiring the needed information from them
- Verifies banking information so that first check is Direct Deposit
- Shows an alert if Payroll is different for an individual
Cons
- Reliability. Frequent problems logging into platform
- Registering Time entries correctly
- Time Off Requests: Confirmation email should show the type of request employee submitted, not just the date
- Platform needs to be fully functional on Firefox
- Notes function in Time & Attendance glitches often and notes cannot be found.
- Reduced paper usage during onboarding
- Eliminates need for completion of direct deposit forms and W-4s
- Employee doesn't have to submit voided check
This is probably the best part of RUN Powered by ADP®. I get fewer phone calls and emails with requests for information now that the staff can self-service. Very grateful for this feature. It would be great if a link to a tutorial was available on the site where employees are accessing their data.
It allows the user quick access to pay stubs and their W2s.
Customer Service--wait times are much shorter with ADP. I must say that my previous vendor had US based customer service, which made communication easy about issues to be resolved. ADPs customer service is mostly in other countries, which often presents a challenge in understanding the agent. This is the only aspect that is not better than my previous product.

RUN Powered by ADP® Feature Ratings
Using RUN Powered by ADP®
2 - Both users are members of Management. One is the business owner. I am the primary user.
1 - As the Manager, I am the account Admin and get the complaints if anything goes wrong. We have to speak with Client Services if the issue is anything beyond User Error, so there's not a particular skill set needed or used.
- Payroll
- Requesting time off
- Time Tracking
- Performing free basic background checks as well as extensive checks for a fee
- To keep a record of employee's emergency contacts
- to keep track of different names an employee may use
- to track money they may owe the company
Evaluating RUN Powered by ADP® and Competitors
Yes - One major factor was Worker's Compensation. The RUN platform includes tracking and payment of WC premiums with each pay cycle. For us, this has eliminated the annual audit process which was very, very time consuming. The actual cost of WC coverage is cheaper through ADP than the coverage that the company was able to acquire independently. The time keeping function is integrated with the RUN website, which is helpful and a time saver.
- Ease of Use
- Other
ADP has the most name recognition among payroll providers, so it was an easy choice. I had other colleagues to recommend it to me many years ago.
I would have at least done a demo with other payroll providers prior to selecting ADP.
