Desktop Central from ManageEngine is a client desktop management with patching, remote control, and configuration.
ConnectWise RMM is well suited for my small IT business to keep track of my many clients that a company like mine with less than 5 employees to monitor in one interface. It is very easy to implement, monitor and setup alerts. The monitor of patching is one of the main reasons we went with ConnectWise RMM. We use their ScreenConnect software as wells.
ManageEngine Endpoint Central will save you many hours if you spend a lot of time installing software. You can set software to deploy with just a few clicks and even setup a self service for users to install software themselves. Other features like remote connection allow you to connect and assist users wherever they are. Automatically patch software to keep your clients secure. There is a wealth of information and potential with ManageEngine Endpoint Central to carry out most tasks.
More granular access level controls for technicians (restrictions for juniors) on the Mobile Device Management add-on
Monitoring mobile data usage on mobile devices, this has been in the product pipeline for 5 years, but not yet implemented
Ability to remotely support company-owned mobile devices with no end-user permission. End-user needs to allow the remote session, when sometimes that's what we don't want since we're doing an investigation.
ManageEngine is considered an excellent product due to its comprehensive suite of solutions for IT management, with ManageEngine Endpoint Central specifically excelling in endpoint management. The platform stands out for its user-friendly interface, robust features, and versatility in addressing diverse IT needs. It offers organizations a centralized solution for endpoint security, patch management, software deployment, and asset management
Great product, very easy to use. Does exactly what we want without any fuss. The interface could be a bit more modern and less cluttered but overall functionality is excellent. Once you're familiar with the menus it's easy enough to get around and do what's needed. We're very happy with the product.
The local distributor of the product is always available, however most support is received within an hour from India. We've had complex requirements and the support team went so far as to customize their mobile application to suit our unique needs. We honestly can't complain about any support we've received and it's always been very quick.
Automate (LabTech) would be the aforementioned "heavy-duty" kind of RMM tool. It's big, it's complex, and very capable compared to Continuum Command. That said, the impetus is very much on the service provider to configure and maintain nearly 100% of the product, whereas in Continuum Command there is a lot that is maintained by their team for you. Even without paying for the premium NOC services, the cloud-first construction and other specific features (like the Windows patch testing and delaying, etc.) are clear wins over the more traditional RMMs like Automate. Automate certainly wins in the technical prowess department. Its scripting engine and level of customization are unrivaled across basically all of the rest of the tools out there. As such, it will be very interesting to see what happens now that these two products live under the same roof. Hopefully, someday, a powerful hybrid of the tool that ConnectWise can focus all development on that harness the positives of each. Keep your eyes peeled...
We chose ManageEngine Endpoint Central primarily on cost and usability. The support from the account managers at ManageEngine Endpoint Central has also been fantastic. NinjaOne came out a lot more expensive and in terms of usability was not as well received by our Agents when we tested it out with them. I am not sure about the level of support from NinjaOne as we did not test this out in the evaluation.
