GoToMyPC

GoToMyPC is a fantastic program that allows me to go on the road with the confidence that I can still get all of my work done. I am able to access Quickbooks to manage our accounts as well as access all of my drives and folders so I can complete paperwork and handle issues that may come up when I am away. In warmer weather, it also allows me to work from my back porch instead of sitting in my office.

Splashtop

If you travel for work and still need to access your office computer- this is the easiest software I have found to do that. Every time I am on the road I use it. I have it set up on multiple computers where I am at, so it is even easier than having to use a phone or iPad. It is very quick to log on, and the one time I needed tech support, they were fast, understood exactly what was going on, and could fix it in less than 5 minutes.

GoToMyPC

  • Easy to connect. Desktop shortcut connects me right away.
  • Connections are very fast. No lag hardly at all. Once in a while, it will hang for a couple of seconds but then come right back.
  • Easy to download and set up.
  • Has provided a solution so I can better serve our customers' requirements.

Cons

GoToMyPC

  • Transfer or copy files from the computer drive (c drive) to your active desktop file folders.
  • The ability to set your own "Time Out" too often I have to log back in if switching between computer screens.
  • Easier way to print documents to printers not connected to the computer being accessed.

Splashtop

  • Any complaints are really nitpicky. Splashtop occasionally has maintenance windows but they are late at night.
  • File transfers work really well but big files can take some time.
  • The integrated Bit Defender add-on is severely limited, while inexpensive, I can't recommend it. For example, you can't exclude specific folders without emailing the company.

I have been using GotomyPC for 20 years and it's gotten better with time. It's the best remote app that I've tried. The others were harder to use and not as functional. It allows us to work from anywhere just as if we were in the office. Even being able to print to my remote location is a wonderful way of doing work. I don't have to drag it to my remote device, It will just print without any hassle

There's very little learning curve as it's toolbar mimics other popular remote access solutions graphical user interface. The response is very quick and the staff is very knowledgeable about their product. Any time we have had a question they have been quick to assist and help us out. Unlike other companies with similar software, I have found that Splashtop employees (including Sales Reps.) are actually still there after 6 months. At the previous company we used we had a new sales rep every other month!

Alternatives Considered

GoToMyPC

I recently started having problems with Splashtop - slow response/freezes/drops, and after troubleshooting everything
internet and hardware related, decided to check out GoToMyPC as one step
in troubleshooting. GoToMyPC has better response
time and has been more reliable. So far I am pleased with the switch with just a couple of minor matters mentioned earlier in review.

Splashtop Business Enterprise is actually easier to implement and get it up and running, all users have to do is download the standard or personalize file and run it, then share the code with you and you are all set to go, i like it because you can even do it from your phone if necessary

  • I'm on the road a lot, so being able to remote into my host computer from my phone is clutch. It allows me to access files I don't have saved to the cloud.
  • Splashtop has been the most reliable of the 4 programs I have tried. Both are affordable and efficient.
