Considered Multiple Products
Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite
Chose Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite
Xmind is just a mind mapping application. It was created with that specific purpose, which makes it not so useful for general diagram creation or to strutucte a workflow process. However, there seems to be no application for Android phones, which is something they should work …
Chose Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite
There has never been another tool that has came close for me. None of these tools had the options, ease of use, and performance that Lucidchart has continuously had for me. I have found the other tools to be clunky, unresponsive, and lacking the variety and options that …
Chose Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite
Lucidchart when compared to the competition is way ahead of them. It has a good number of features available in the free version and the other thing is that there is none to a little learning curve required to understand the product. It is fairly easy to use when we compare it …
Chose Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite
I wasn't engaged in decision making process of choosing diagramming tool. However from what I know main reasons were:
  • eays to access and use
  • fully cross-platform web-based solution
MindManager
Chose MindManager
Xmind is not nearly as intuitive as MindManager. It is just as powerful, but there is a steeper learning curve. Lucidchart is a great cloud application, but web apps are often shunned in corporate environments where there are still concerns about storing intellectual property …
Chose MindManager
I am pretty much accustomed to using MindManager. Used Xmind only on a limited basis.
Chose MindManager
I have tried Xmind but MindManager has way more capabilities. Over the last decade, MindManager grew exponentially in terms of its capabilities, especially in the area of project management (not only traditional waterfall type of project management but agile type of project …
Chose MindManager
MindManager has more options, and Xmind is more minimalistic. MindManager allows us a greater range of functionality.
Chose MindManager
integration, drag and drop and many other features are not supported by Xmind
Chose MindManager
Integrates with Microsoft Office suite, network infrastructure, and web links. Remains efficient even after adding multiple links.

Intégration avec la suite Office de Microsoft et les infrastructures réseaux et lien web. Reste performant même après l'ajout de plusieurs liens.
Chose MindManager
Particularly in the area of development and joint collaboration with other customers, this enables us to show, explain and develop content directly to teams, for example. The advantage over other products. It is simply a great simplification in the context of collaboration with …
Chose MindManager
As starte in 2010 as an "early adopter" a lot of experience with MindManager has been gained over time. MindManager is in use as a "working horse" in my environment. While MindManager has pretty well managed to further develop the technology and to adapt with fast changing IT …
Chose MindManager
I have used a few others in the past (not listed in your product search, such as Freemind). I don't recall all of the Mind Mapping products I've tried, but MindManager definitely felt the most complete as a product and had a much more professional feel.
Chose MindManager
Much more efficient and professional.
Chose MindManager
MindManager has many functions that others don't allow. Users can also use it offline rather than relying on an internal connection. It works with many standard business software programs that other products do not. This makes it very applicable for the workplace, as it helps …
Chose MindManager
I think each of these have many positives, however from my perspective being a private business I do not want to invest in other solutions unless they have a major differentiator. My main temptation to move would be to a product that would allow me to share via Google or MS …
Chose MindManager
MindManager has many more capabilities
Chose MindManager
It is different from other project management software because it is easy to use and can be used by just about anyone. With its intuitive interface, you can create mind maps and brainstorm up to four levels of notes and ideas. It has over 50 predefined shapes to capture your …
Chose MindManager
Mindnode will be my choice if MJ opt to keep the expert to PPT feature out.
Chose MindManager
MindManager is by far the most feature rich and capable solution in the market today. The key reasons for selecting MindManager as the tool of choice are:
  1. Breadth of templates and document types (beyond the conventional mind map).
  2. Ability to import and export to different file …
Chose MindManager
None of these products have the comprehensive functionality of MindManager, combined with ease of use and intuitive interface.
Chose MindManager
We actually use all of them. We chose MindManager as we wanted to try out some new software in case it would be a better fit than the others. So far, while better, we haven't been using it extensively. We will most likely look to purchase some other software since MindManager …
Xmind
Chose Xmind
MindManager:
  • We used MindManager on Windows for many years and were happy with the product. However, at some point, MindJet dramatically raised the price which we grudgingly accepted. At some point, we switched to Macs and the MindManager on a Mac is a very different product. …
Chose Xmind
As Xmind draws a specific focus on mindmaps its functionality is very clear and easy to use. Other mindmap systems make you connect the topics and arrows yourself which can be very frustrating and finnicky. Its presentation is very clear and displayed cleanly.

Lucid Software
I personally think that Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite is the best visual collaboration software out there. I’ve used Canva, Apple Freeform, and Microsoft whiteboarding software, and none of them really measure up. If you want simple, easy, collaborative, and intuitive, then Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite is the best solution. At the same time, if you’re tight on budget, it’s probably not going to be a solution you can afford.

It is well suited for a quick prototype of product/development planning to show relationships amongst the APIs used. This helps developers understand the impact of the product changes and identifies the need to update integration components to avoid erroneous deployments. I have not personally experienced a less appropriate scenario at the moment.

Pros
Lucid Software
  • Large number of predefined charts, diagrams, flows
  • A great repository of various symbols and objects
  • The easiness of using and manipulating objects and shapes. There is a lot of auto-editing and adjusting which the software does for you which saves a lot of your time.
  • Easy way of duplicating shapes.
  • While working with the app everything feels organic and natural. You don't get the clunky/limited feeling which happens with some other similar apps.

Cons
Lucid Software
  • I have used the templates before and those are nice! I would like to see more
  • The ONLY complaint I can come up with is that there has been several times that my screen will lock up and i have to fully refresh it, even when it is a fairly fresh load.

  • There should be some more functionality in the Notes window, such as a "Paste Special " Icon in the notes area to maintain format control.
  • Although I create many of my own Web export templates, an add-on for web export design would be great, as I regularly create Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP) in HTML export format.
  • The ability to sync Map shortcuts between devices would also be welcome. I use MM on three devices, and I have to add or amend the Map list individually. My maps are on OneDrive, so using them should not be that hard if they are cloud-based.

  • A few steps are needed to mark a label for each customized branch.
  • Branch customization, such as line width and style, could be improved.
  • Customization, such as a different shape of nodes, would be good.

I feel the main issues of the old Mindjet seem to be gone with the
Corel purchase. With the huge advance of sharing via browser HTML even 1
user can affect many. And, actually, using MM kind of forced my rigid
brain to rethink how I categorize and classify information/projects.
The
idea of paying $69USD for an annual cost is more than fair and a great
model for Corel/Mindjet to keep rolling out improvements!

Usability
Lucid Software
The usability of Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite is bar none and incomparable to any other tool used in the past. MindManager is very intuitive. The user interface is not cluttered and the ribbon icons are easy to understand. Several excellent "how-to" videos are available on the MindManager site as well as on YouTube. MindManager starts quickly and the user interface is very responsive. Launching other programs from MindManager such as Excel is very fast and issue free. The browsing feature is lightning fast. The drag-and-drop capability is also very fast and reliable.

I would rate the overall support for Lucidchart as a 9. The support provided is generally robust and responsive. Their help center, tutorials, and webinars offer extensive resources for users. The ticket-based support system is effective, providing timely resolutions to most issues. Moreover, they actively gather user feedback, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement

The support around a bug in the tool which prevented the correct printing of diagrams. Support came back after a few days, and there was no workaround. Eventually, the bug was fixed in a future release. The company does not pay much attention to user forums. With better support and plugin mechanism for user contributions, the product would be more convincing.

Lucidchart is well beyond Microsoft Visio and is constantly improving. Visio is pretty much stagnant and hasn't been improved for several years, Lucid is constantly adding new functionality like AI powered functions and tools. We have no reason to pay for Visio licenses when Lucid can provide so much more for less.

MindManager stands out for its wide range of export options, customization and how they have enriched the format over time. As a constantly evolving tool, and having tried others, I consider it superior for the abovementioned reasons. Its cross-platform nature has been decisive, and although there are many alternatives in the form of web applications or the like, MindManager presents itself as a more complete and robust option.

Return on Investment
Lucid Software
  • It sure has. It has saved me a lot of time. Think of all the time I could have wasted trying to learn a program that does the same thing, whereas Lucidchart just does it with ease, learn as you go, and be a boss at it.
  • Lucidchart has increased productivity. My diagrams have helped co-workers find connectivity and helped them troubleshoot devices. This has saved time and increased productivity.

  • For a single person business presentation it is a plus.
  • Project difficulty is well assessed using the map.
  • Giving away a paper version of a map is a positive gesture. People like the map, the look, and what it says, and it may also be a way to promote MindManager to them.
  • Keep the PDF or JPEG saving capabilities for small customers like me. It's important.
