Considered Multiple Products
Mattermost
Chose Mattermost
Offordable and most preferred partner
Chose Mattermost
Mattermost stands out because of its flexibility, balance between controls and DevOps focus.

Teams is strong for enterprise office workflows and meetings but it can feel heavy and less efficient for fast paced technical collaboration and incident handling.
Chose Mattermost
We've tried other platforms and don't have the amount of people to make Jabber worth the expense. RocketChat was very hard to maintain in an air gapped environment because it required a container being built on the Internet connected domain and transferred over every time we …
Chose Mattermost
Mattermost is definitely the superior product compared with similar products we've used (3rdwave, 1ntegrate, etc.). We find it much easier to use and more secure for our processes. Definitely happy we switched to using Mattermost mainly.
Chose Mattermost
They're very similar. I think it's really a matter of preference. Again, one of the things I like about Mattermost is that it's strictly for business (atleast for us) it's different from the more mainstream messaging apps used so we can kind of separate work vs personal messages.
Chose Mattermost
Slack, Microsoft Teams and Discord
Chose Mattermost
It's cheaper and similar to Slack.
You can break down your project modules better here.
It's secure and self-hosted.
Chose Mattermost
Much more expensive than most chat applications but you have more control over things by self-hosting. Your security team will be able to design a very secure place to store all your code, passwords, and internal details, but most companies will not require this. It would be …
Chose Mattermost
In comparison to Slack, where Slack is strictly for internal communication, Mattermost actually has the format to display and not alter source code. Google chat is also even more limited in comparison to Slack and Mattermost. If you collaborate on code every single day, then …
Chose Mattermost
It is just as good if not better. Can be a superior option depending on the needs of your organization.
Chose Mattermost
These products all required cloud connectivity and licensing that was a significant cost. Mattermost allowed us to pilot this among just the Ops team and then evangelize this to the other infrastructure team. This allowed us to slowly show the value of this software and expand …
Chose Mattermost
Unlike Slack and Discord, Mattermost is self-hosted and focused on security. I used Discord before for community management and much simpler and less secure operations. Slack is great, but the fact that is cloud based takes out a lot of its independence.
Chose Mattermost
We used to have Mattermost and now we have Microsoft Teams. They are both very similar. Mattermost and Microsoft Teams are both great for communicating internally via calls, chats, meetings, etc. They are also both easy to set up an use. However, the Microsoft Teams mobile app …
Chose Mattermost
to reduce cost we shifted to Mattermost.
Chose Mattermost
Mattermost works better in that there aren’t constant updates and changes which can make finding past messages difficult. Mattermost also works better for channel creation and communication
Chose Mattermost
Slack is by far my personal favorite due to the age of the platform and the maturity of the features. Mattermost is a close 2nd-
Chose Mattermost
Honestly iv just used these two but when it comes to customization, they don't come close to Mattermost. Slack and Teams are Less flexible, Not self hosted. Not Open source, etc I will also say that i noticed integration capabilities are very limited with teams and slack and not …
Chose Mattermost
Mattermost is much faster and easier to use. It also has many more features beyond chat. They are more customizations and features for workflow and messaging on this platform also. The ability to integrate with other platforms via plugins, the security features, and the open …
Chose Mattermost
Mattermost is easier to use, faster, and less resource-intensive. Cross-platform support is great, and the mobile experience is awesome.
Chose Mattermost
I feel slack is a bit more difficult to use overall than Mattermost. Mattermost makes the tasks of communicating across departments and team members easier, as well as giving the ability to share information via hyper links, attachments, and other forms of communication among …
Chose Mattermost
We selected mattermost since we can control storage of our data. Slack is a great tool and offers more robust features compared to mattermost. However, the previously mentioned reason & the competitive pricing allowed us to stick with mattermost.
Chose Mattermost
key selling points for us was that its open source and can be self hosted.
Chose Mattermost
Mattermost is cheaper and offers the possibility of self-hosting compared to other competitors. This is a great advantage for our company.
Sococo
Chose Sococo
Sococo has a better visual appeal. It makes it feel more like an office space when you work from home. There is increased awareness and accountability of whose in the office vs. whose not. There is also a better social connection that directly impacts productivity and company …
Chose Sococo
Sococo lacks the power of Slack for storing and searching old messages but I think Dlack is overkill in most situations. When using instant messages ad an alternative to a quick phone call who needs a record? Skype for Business is just awful for conference calls. You can't …
Chose Sococo
I prefer Sococo over Lync/Skype for a few reasons.
I feel the user interface is slicker, better voice clarity, easier to hop between calls. And, all call members can go to a common chat room on their own accord instead of one person trying to invite everybody. I also feel that …
Chose Sococo
Webex Meetings, Skype for Business, and Google Hangouts all require that you create some sort of "call event" that people can join or leave. Sococo gives you the ability to seamlessly move between meetings within one app and also provide a status of available or unavailable, or …
Zoom Workplace
Chose Zoom Workplace
Zoom I feel is more like Google Meet the way I use it, which is just the video conference platform. I'd say Microsoft Teams has the most integrated and polished suite but they won't let you meet with users outside of your business without having to setup accounts first. Zoom, …
Chose Zoom Workplace
It's stabel and intuitive it was accepted quickly by all of our users

Chose Zoom Workplace
In Google Meet, we cannot access the screen, and in AnyDesk, we cannot talk with the person we connected with. But in Zoom Meeting, we can do all 3 things together. And the addon features are document sharing, an AI companion. These are the differentiators that are taking Zoom …

I have been using Zoom Workplace from the very beginning. It is something I am used to so suddenly changing to other application were not so comfortable since i know this application were not so comfortable since i know this application too wel and I like all it's features be …
Chose Zoom Workplace
As I said I have been using since my early college days so this is something I know very well compared to these two tools, so when I workplace had this tool in the option I obviously picked this tool and from then it's never let me down and other tool features are very …
Chose Zoom Workplace
Zoom Workplace is a simpler and easy to deploy software and can be run on low performance machines too. Its UI, wide use and data encryption policies made it a perfect choice.
Chose Zoom Workplace
Zoom seems like a better total experience than Teams. It offers a more consistent experience and an easier-to-use GUI. It manages meetings against your calendar more nicely and allows you to join meetings when the room isn't booked more easily than its counterparts.
Chose Zoom Workplace
With Skype for Business being discontinued, it was no longer an option for us to use. The older technology does not compare to Zoom Workplace. Microsoft Teams is just as reliable as Zoom Workplace for video conferencing and chat. The integration that Microsoft Teams has with …
Chose Zoom Workplace
Compared to them the webinars and video meeting environment is much better here and it's much more reliable here. Also we saw audio and video quality here.
Chose Zoom Workplace
I prefer Zoom as AI Companion is included at no extra cost, therefore can be used at a larger scale by the organization.
Chose Zoom Workplace
Zoom Workplace has more features but the fact I need a paid plan for recording and or 1 hour meetings vs Meet being included in my Zoom Workplace plan
Chose Zoom Workplace
Zoom Workplace is more of robust program, however I have found the alternatives to be good as well at no or much less of a cost.
Chose Zoom Workplace
Zoom is approximately equal to Webex in terms of features and functionality but integrates poorly with other M365 platforms as well as 8x8, so we chose Teams as our primary meeting and calling platform to have a more successful rollout and integration with our existing …
Chose Zoom Workplace
I prefer Teams overall and would place Google in third with Zoom in third, however all are functional. Zoom was not ultimately selected as the long term solution but would have been fine if it had been. If meeting software was Apple vs Android, Zoom would be Apple, and I'm a …
Chose Zoom Workplace
Zoom seems more user-friendly, and employees report fewer issues with its overall functionality.
Chose Zoom Workplace
Each product has its unique features. Zoom has been in production long enough to earn confidence in its accessibility and reliability.
Chose Zoom Workplace
Again, I think Zoom is easier to use, offers more features, and has much better video and audio quality than its competitors. We were able to consolidate tools with Zoom and remain in compliance with our internal security policies. It is also just super easy to use.
Chose Zoom Workplace
Zoom is the mothership of all meeting products. It has stood the test of time through Covid, and all the other platforms are constantly playing catch-up, with features like backgrounds, filters, audio settings, captions, and transcripts. It's great to be able to move camera …
Chose Zoom Workplace
Going to the meeting was more difficult for the external stakeholders. Zoom allowed people outside of our org to easily join a meeting without forcing them to download anything.
Chose Zoom Workplace
I'm generally more confident in moving around Zoom, perhaps simply because of the frequency of use and the universality of acceptance.
Chose Zoom Workplace
I personally like Zoom the best. The interface is super easy to use and I really like the quality of the sound and the video. I would put it as a clear leader compared to Meet and Teams.
Chose Zoom Workplace
MS Teams is currently being used internally, it is also a very good product. MS Teams is excellent when connection to office applications and office personel are crucial in a secure Microsoft environment. Zoom is better for non-technical persons.
Chose Zoom Workplace
Zoom Workplace stacks up better than Microsoft Teams in terms of general meeting capabilities, webinar and live event capabilities, user experience, and how slick it is generally - it's a nicer environment where things feel more intuitive and professional. Teams is laggy and …
Chose Zoom Workplace
- Less aggravation for our clients - better quality audio and video - better whiteboarding - AI summarization - all in one collaboration - ubiquitous, known and familiar to most people around the world - simple, very easy to set up and use - ease of scheduling meetings - …

As I mentioned before, Zoom Workplace offers many more options (integration with multiple apps, AI support, high-quality recordings, multi-participant meetings, etc.). Furthermore, since Zoom Workplace is the leading platform, it's easier for my clients and other professionals …

Mattermost is definitely appropriate for a growing company with team members spread out across the u.s. and Canada. It’s given me the ability to have access to anyone with the information I need or the ability to develop friendships, working relationships with people I otherwise wouldn’t have access to

We tried Sococo as means of gamifying a natively remote office. It does the job but the tool suffers from a lack of integrations. You will run out of free minutes very quickly and the additional charges are too high to make business sense.

Zoom Workplace is ideal for many businesses, more so because it saves money by uniting different functionalities into one app - meetings, messaging, phone, and scheduling. The tool keeps teams connected thanks to the amazing collaboration and communication features. In addition, Zoom Workplace is helpful for businesses with a hybrid team, thanks to its effortless connections.

Pros
  • Easy intergration to our main CRM (Monday.com)
  • I'm not techy myself but I have seen a lot of our previous integrations in Slack transferred over to Mattermost so that's fun
  • The desktop and phone app (android) works well enough. I haven't tried it on the Apple ecosystem yet.

  • Good voice codex. Voices come across clearly and I've never had problems struggling to understand another person due to static.
  • Easy screen sharing. The screen sharing is intuitive and easy to use. In addition, it's easy for multiple people to be sharing a screen at the same time, and viewers can easily hop between the different shared screens.
  • Has a mobile phone application version, web browser version , and stand alone client.

  • It offers amazing unified collaboration features, including Zoom whiteboard, Zoom team chat, and integrated mail and calendar.
  • Zoom is a great meeting solution, with features like smart recording, breakout rooms, and personalized video and audio, making it a functional business meeting tool.
  • It is equipped with amazing AI features that help summarize meetings, generate content, and provide quick catch-up, allowing one to ask AI questions without interrupting meetings.

Cons
  • Basic features like custom status, collapsed reply threads are JUST rolling out - kind of slow for a workplace chat app.
  • I don't really get the idea of Playbooks and Boards - there are better, dedicated tools for stuff like this and it's not so easy to turn off.

  • Audio quality is often a challenge. People will cut in and out.
  • Video quality can be a challenge sometimes when someone is sharing their screen or camera.
  • Moving between Sococo "Areas" can be a little bit challenging for new users not used to Sococo.

  • Love notes - allow insertion of table or grid
  • Allow admin to turn off DND
  • Allow a way to group individual people chats - not channels just individual peeps into groups for ease of finding - like how you can group shared calendars into sections in Outlook

Mattermost works perfectly within our company as a way to communicate seamlessly. I have had no issues with the product and continue to use it often while on and off site. The mobile app allows me to continue to communicate with my team even when I don't have my laptop with me.

Since it helps track all the things at one place and the bots can be made which helps to automate many tasks. We use it in our security incident tracking in which there are pre defined tasks like adding people, creating groups, launching bots. All these things make the work easier and oraganized

Zoom has among the best performance of any video conference platform, as I've mentioned several times. Besides that, their Chat platform works great, and their back end always runs smooth. It's unfortunate that reporting can now only be done by one month at a time, but nonetheless, it only takes a second to run any kind of Zoom report, whether it's an attendee report, Poll results, a user report, a list of meetings from the past month, etc.

We have not had to contact support for Mattermost ever. All that we have needed has been available in the documentation or website. One of our DevOps team members set it up in a couple of hours. The whole team was using Mattermost that same day. No support needed.

Sococo didn't seem to have a strong support line. In comparison to other products, such as Microsoft Teams, it did not regularly check in with us. There should be opportunities to give feedback on the quality of the program periodically and if we had any issues. Sometimes, Sococo would crash, and we would 'restart it' but not know why it happened.

Because I got a response right away, and was assigned one specific individual to work with me from the beginning to the resolution. I had an actual email address and direct contact with this person without having to start over and over every time I contacted Zoom - this singular individual remained attentive and was well informed on the subject matter and quite able to resolve my needs.

Because the Basic licenses are completely free, and because it's very easy to configure and install Zoom, and because anyone can join Zoom from a link without needing an account, scaling is a Breeze. There are absolutely no roadblocks. My company keeps adding more Zoom Pro license every week since it's so in demand. We were able to convert users from several different platforms onto Zoom with no trouble at all.

Return on Investment
  • The platform is adaptive to storage data center outages in case our cloud storage provider goes away, Mattermost still works with our local database. However, files couldn't be shared. We can switch storage to local temporarily; that's a benefit. Later it all syncs up to main storage.
  • When our team switched to Mattermost from paid solutions, we had much savings and access to unlimited past messages and storage quota (we use our cloud storage provider)
  • We have better visibility of our tools and other products running adjacent to Mattermost due to integration capability. We use it for notifications/ updates sent from other products.

  • Zoom saved my business during the pandemics.
  • Zoom's functionality was far ahead of anything available in the early days of the pandemic.
  • In the last few months, the annual subscription has not appropriate for my use, so I might cancel it because I rarely use the extended session feature anymore.
  • I wish there were a one-shot option to purchase a single 2-hour session with all the full features (AI, recording, etc.) instead of an annual subscription.
