Overall Satisfaction with Mattermost
Mattermost is our main source of communication within our company. We use it to communicate within specific groups and disciplines, across the entire company, and for private messages. The most important factor when deciding on implementing Mattermost was it's HIPAA compliance. Within our healthcare company, HIPAA compliance is of the highest importance.

Mattermost is as good of a software as HipChat. They both allow for easy communication within our company across private, group, or mass messaging. The notifications of both work well without flaw. The only difference that I have noticed between the two would be that HipChat had a silly gif messaging aspect that I have not seen work as well in Mattermost.

Using Mattermost
In our healthcare setting we use Mattermost as a way to communicate with each other. I have used Mattermost to communicate with someone in the same room as myself or with someone in another state entirely. We commonly discuss patient care, but have also used the software to discuss issues with IT, HR, or any other area of the company.
I don't have much information on the types of people or skills required to support Mattermost. We have an IT department who managed all of the support.
