Not as polished as Veeam, but a lot cheaper when backing up data from over 10 servers. Otherwise, if you are backing up just one server, and don't need much in the way of support, the Veeam Community edition is a very cost-effective backup solution. When comparing the …
Commvault has a faster restore, but takes much longer to perform the backups. We ran into issues with the backups stepping on each other as they were not completed sometimes before the next backup was to start.
The restores with Rubrik were much faster than HYCU. HYCU resells their Protege 365 backup product, so there was another layer to go through with support.
Networker is really heavy in terms of learning, though it also offers a lot of features and has advantages where no good network connection is available (compression, before sending the data, Rubrik globally dedups) and Networker still offfers tape support. But we decided to …
We selected Rubrik due to the greater support it has for our Hyperconverged platform, Namely, Nutanix AHV. Both the sales pitch and initial support was more rounded than Cohesity and inspired more confidence in the product, Rubrik were able to demo everything we were planning …
Selected Rubrik due to API driven, modern easy to use interface and appliances in a scale out architecture with a secure file system protecting backup data
Veeam was our previous backup option. The downside of Veeam compared to Rubrik is Veeam live inside the VM which is prone to hackers if they got access to VM. Rubrik has its own appliance and MFA is mandatory for Rubrik so that's the main reason we moved over to Rubrik.
Was over 5 years ago when we made the comparison but LOVED that Rubrik was a software and hardware solution with no finger pointing. Solution met all needs and was a turnkey product. Has been easy to maintain and grow over the years.
There is no comparison, Rubrik worked right out of the box and even has support for IBM DB2 databases. Patches and upgrades have been performed without any issues. Database backups are run using default settings without any noticeable impact on the databases/servers and …
I can't knock on Druva other than that their cost was higher than Rubrik, which is why we ultimately went with Rubrik. Veeam was too complicated for a simpleton like myself, and the feature set of Rubrik was exactly what we needed.
Having all our backups under one umbrella made product management easier, with not need to manage myltip contracts.
The additional analysis of the data after the fact gave insights into our user data, without the need for an addition product, or the impact on live data sets.
Rubrik is a more straightforward product to implement and manage. We mainly went with Rubrik for security reasons like ransomware protection and immutable database.
When I used Netvault in the past the interface was NOT intuitive especially when it came to setting up new jobs and adding new VM's to an existing backup job schedule. Adding a new VM used to take me approximately 45 minutes to make sure that everything was assigned properly. …
The biggest thing that Rubrik gave us over using Veeam is the secure appliances. We don't have to have another server to manage that simply runs the backup software, we have a managed appliance with a single update interface. Veeam backup and restore works just as well, but …
rubrik is much easier to deploy and manage. in so many ways. support is much better. sales is much better. customer involvement and response for features is much better. commvault is more granular but that hasn't hurt us. it takes less time to add new instances and less time on …
Of all the tools Cohesity was the closest to Rubrik but the lack of Nutanix support was the deciding factor for us. HYCU is native to Nutanix but without the Nutanix Objects the deduping rate was limited. Veratas fell in the older school classification of process that did …
Comprehensive Technical Comparison requirement gathering and features mapping with requirement Rubrik Team Technical competencies ensures that all area gets covered and product/solution addresses all corners.
Veeam was evaluated as an alternative, however, Rubrik had tighter integration with other infrastructure in the stack, such as storage. Rubrik, being primarily a hardware appliance can be installed much more rapidly.
I think Rubrik, VEEAM and Zerto are great products, really depends on the use case. Zerto is probably the best real time replication technology available for VMs to a single or multiple DR datacenter. They claim they have backup capabilities but they are not in the ballpark of …
Migrations from Hyper-V to VMWare. This something VMware cloud availiblity not can do. Whit migrations from several platforms to VMWare, this is realy a missing part in VMware Cloud availity and a real + in Zerto. The RPO en RTO are almost the same, butnif you realy want 'the …
We initially purchased RecoverPoint and after stumbling through the installation with the consultant and realizing how clumsy and nonautomated it was we began looking elsewhere. We really disliked the amount of setup and manual configuration needed to get basic things …
Zerto was far and away from a much better product than RecoverPoint. EMC was unable to perform near as fast and as good as Zerto and required a lot more setup and infrastructure to run.
Hands down Zerto blows VMWare SRM out of the water. The configuration is easy to setup. Managing replications are just a few short key strokes and there is an easy-to-navigate web dashboard.
Veeam is an impressive solution, however, Zerto has a better feature set, customizable journal, and RPO timing. The price with Zerto was more competitive.
We use VMware vSphere Replication as our disaster recovery tool for our Tier 2/3 systems. This was chosen as it saves us costs for our less critical, but still needed systems that keep our company running. Putting everything on Zerto would be great, but with this combination, …
Zerto replication is a lot cheaper than any of the completion, it’s simple to set up and use, requires minimal training for users, and its simple interface and groups using VPG enables a granular setup.
It just does what it says and is simple, reliable, and relatively cheap
Zerto solves issues with snapshot-based backups and provides continuous data protection up to 14 days with an astonishing granularity. Zerto's One-2-Many can provide local and offsite backups with near real-time and fast restore of a VM
The speed of WAN replication is great. It is faster compared to RecoverPoint and 20 VMs replicating over a 20Mbps VPN, which has a RPO less than one minute. Of course, your mileage will vary.
While more expensive, Zerto does a better job of protecting our servers and keeping the RPO low. It was also supported by our financial core which was a huge factor in our adoption. However, one it was put into our system, we wanted to adopt it company wide. As long as you …
We looked at both CommVault and NetBackup, which are similar platforms to that of the Zerto Replication Software stack. We thought the Zerto solution best met our specification needs, as well as our cost needs. The CommVault licensing was complicated, and we just have had a bad …
We started out using Backup Exec which was in service until we virtualized our environment where it didn't perform as well at the time. Then we switched to Veeam which worked well, but then as we started needing to do migrations and off-site DR, we found ourselves relying on …
We used to use Veeam for our replication solution but due to the snapshot issues that we used to experience with our larger virtual machines, i.e we would encounter some lost of connectivity. We were told by two of our partners that Zerto would solve our needs and we did our …
Zerto is easy to install and maintain. Most importantly, the replication feature with a journal that provides recovery point every few seconds cannot be found in any other software we evaluated.
Physical recoverpoint and virtual Recovperpoint for VMware are still very basic in their feature set. Physical recoverpoint requires months of planning, installation, configuration, before systems are replicated and then protected. There is no backup feature such as Zerto, …
Zerto replicates at the hypervisor level, not the VM level like VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM). SRM replicates vms within or across vSphere clusters, but not between different hypervisors. While I only replicate from vcenter to vcenter, if we needed to replicate to a …
Provide data protection for small to media size clients. Sends comprehensive email reports upon job completion. Physical to Virtual Migrations. Backing up physical and virtual machines. Alerting on backup job success or failure. Support is could be a little better, but it is adequate. The application is frequently updated and supports the latest operating systems from Microsoft and VMware.
Rubrik is great for large enterprises but might not fit the best for smaller sized companies with low backup demands. We have had to restore virtual machines quickly , and Rubrik's quick mount on solid state was tremendous at getting the client back running. The only negative is the mac address changed even though we had checked retain mac. We had to go back into vmware and set it.
Zerto is well suited for disaster recovery and virtual machine replication between multiple data centers. DR testing for audit or regulations is much easier with Zerto, great reporting, dashboard etc. It is not well suited for physical server replication for disaster recovery or as a primary backup solution.
Easy onboarding. We were able to make a connection to our M365 environment in less than 5 minutes, and backups were processing within just a couple minutes after that.
Good customer service. From sales to post-implementation, the staff at Rubrik were helpful, professional, and focused on me.
Set and forget. Outside of regular test restores, I don't have to worry about constantly trying to tweak settings within the Rubrik console to get it working better. It just works.
It is simple to set up and use. In my opinion, one of the most important functions of a tool is its interface. If you have the best product in the world but it takes an arm and a leg to configure and a doctorate degree to use, then the product isn't worth very much.
The continuous replication is done very well. The failover and failback process runs smoothly.
This has less to do with the product than the company, but Zerto as a company really listens to their customer base. We've always had a very good interpersonal experience with their support and sales teams. Having great people behind their product is definitely one of Zerto's strengths.
The support has been incredible. Any time we have had a question, it has always been answered within 24hrs. Also, the team is always will to hop on a Zoom call to help walk us through the dashboard and troubleshoot any issues we are having. Also, having the peace of mind that our data is protected should anything happen in our system.
We really like the easy setup of this replication solution, as well as the ease of management. Not to mention, our internal IT Economist determined that the Zerto solution would provide the best ROI out of the competing solutions we analyzed. So far, his calculations have been spot on, and we have saved substantially
The GUI was successfully designed to be very easy to use and work through. It is a very logical work flow that is easy to navigate and just makes sense. That is part of the charm when in the moment of stress, you can still find your way around and accomplish the desired recovery.
Zerto is very easy to implement and support. Uses are broad, only issues are once something doesn't sync it is difficult to get assistance until your reach tier 2 or tier 3 support. Basic file and folder recovery is great. Live and test fail overs are also easy to implement without issue.
Rubrik's brik is designed with redundancy in mind, ensuring that if one node experiences issues, others can continue to provide backup and recovery services.
Rubrik support is hands down some of the best product support we have. They know their product and are quick to assist. Submitting support cases is easier and they are very responsive. You don't have to use Rubrik support often but when you do they have your back.
Very responsive, very capable. Overall, the product is very easy to set up and configure. Problems usually encroach when lower-level components are updated for changed, for instance, vSphere. Support usually can help us work through any issues that pop up from upgrades to other software, but their own updates can lag behind a little.
Easy to follow and very thorough. Trainer was knowledgeable and helpful answering any questions and providing detailed answers where possible. It's also nice to gain another badge :) There is also the Rubrik University online tutorials to refer back to and keep updated with new innovations. I would say the exam was very hard.
From experience the implementation was smooth and easy, like a simple plug and play format but would need coordination from your network team to be able to see the entire IT infrastructure.
Not as polished as Veeam, but a lot cheaper when backing up data from over 10 servers. Otherwise, if you are backing up just one server, and don't need much in the way of support, the Veeam Community edition is a very cost-effective backup solution. When comparing the support and cost of Novabackup for a small to mid-size business, it is a very reliable solution.
Selected Rubrik due to API driven, modern easy to use interface and appliances in a scale out architecture with a secure file system protecting backup data
Zerto solves issues with snapshot-based backups and provides continuous data protection up to 14 days with an astonishing granularity. Zerto's One-2-Many can provide local and offsite backups with near real-time and fast restore of a VM
Zerto does not backup physical machines or VMs that are turned off, but there are other products to do that.
Other backup products are stepping up with ease of deployment and small organizations would find them a little easier to use as there are fewer configuration options.
Very easy to add new 'briks' (or nodes as everyone else calls them :P) as long as the network is plugged in and configured, the briks will discuss among themselves and welcome the new comer into the cluster
