Overall Satisfaction with Rubrik

We use Rubrik to backup and replicate between several states using 2 physical clusters and 3 virtual devices. It is our go to solution for recovery and business continuity. It is our secondary solution for disaster recovery. We currently use organizations to allow all our DBAs to backup up SQL to Rubrik. We have one Windows Oracle team using managed volumes for backup.


  • Support is competent and very responsive.
  • Restores very easy and quick. The Briks themselves are robust enough to handle a workload while the live mounts are being migrated to permanent storage.
  • Customer feedback and feature implementation.
  • Ransomware investigations


  • I honestly want Rubrik to focus on what they do best. CDM was introduced and IMO it isn't robust enough for this feature.
  • I would like better API documentation.
  • I'd like to see more granular control of SLA retentions.
  • The initial cost itself was far below even a renewed license cost of our existing solution.
  • We now have the confidence from a DR perspective that we have on nearly all servers a 1 hour or less RPO for our replicated backups.
Rubrik was the simplest, cheapest and most feature-filled.

Lately Rubrik has emerged as one of the top applications for ransomware investigations. However, there is some fine tuning that hopefully will happen with time.

Customer Experience

Because you really don't even need the documentation. It is that intuitve.
There have been some people who didn't seem as knowledgeable. I was always able to escalate and get the problem resolved.
Yes, I would like them to continue with the hardware pricing, etc that they had when we started.

No. Support does an amazing job.

It was extremely easy to setup, administer and train others.

Configuring Rubrik

There's still a lot that is only managed by support, but for the most part, we can do whatever we need.
Configuration is simple enough that there aren't too many best practices to consider.
No - there is no facility to customize the interface
Yes - we have added extensive custom code - We've supplemented Rubrik's functionality with API integration. It would've been easier with better documentation.
I created my own backup validation and integration into vmware.

Rubrik Reliability

We have never had any issues with scalability.
Rubrik has always been available except for upgrades and the downtimes has been significantly reduced.
Yes. Even on VPN and poor occasional poor internet speeds we've had no issues.

Integrating Rubrik

For us, it was just vmware and Rubrik which was fairly easy.

It was easy, but the it would've been easier with better documentaion
We have no plans to integrate other applications at this time.

I would not recommend AWS, but that is not because of Rubrik.

Relationship with Rubrik, Inc

We've enjoyed working with all of our sales teams over the years.
We stayed in constant contact.
I was not involved in negotiating.
We schedule a monthly call just to keep up and go over any news from Rubrik, contracts or any support tickets.

Upgrading Rubrik

Yes - Super smooth with much shorter downtimes. We rarely have issue with upgrades.
  • MFA met some security goals
  • Easier management of SLAs using Rubrik Security Cloud.
