What is Equatio?

Equatio is an equation editor used to create digital, accessible math, and is designed to save time, lower stress and eliminate frustration.

Equatio aims to create accessible learning experiences in math and science, so that students get choice in the tools that they need to succeed. This includes having math read aloud, using 'math to speech' and visualizing math problems with geometric shapes, manipulatives, and dynamic graphs. Equatio also provides students and teachers with a collaborative and digital space to allow students to work freely and show their thinking.

Equatio also aims to remove barriers to inclusive math, helps to create independent learners, and lets students choose to engage with math and science in a way that suits them best.

  • not many teachers are using it as far as I have seen - there are other tools available to them that do the same things
  • teachers who do use it enjoy the slide format of activities and how they can assign easily to students
  • teachers would prefer to have the results and progress of the work assigned appear in the Google classroom instead of having a separate dashboard
