We use Meta Commerce manager to post advertisements, boost posts, and target posts to various Meta products. Primarily Instagram and Facebook. We are a non-profit school that uses the platforms to recruit potential students and engage with interested communities (community groups, religious groups, patron communities, etc.). We are able to get clear analytics of whom and where we are targeting.
  • Targeted ads.
  • Analytics.
  • Simplicity (at basic level).
  • Nuances of service are confusing.
  • Pricing is all over the place.
  • Customer services can be lacking.
Meta Commerce Manager is well suited for posting content to semi-targeted users; posting is easy as a few clicks once content is created. Some of the tools are very easy to use. Back-end analytics are there, although it can be expensive or complicated how far your institution wants to drill down.
  • Community engagement.
  • Needs better and more simple analytics.
  • Needs trainings.
Using an outside product, such as Hootsuite, is mostly a lot easier for our organization than Meta Commerce Manager. Hootsuite (or software like it) is simpler to understand, presents a better analytic user interface, and feels more cost-effective. Automating process is simpler with Hootsuite. Navigating Meta's various help websites is a disaster, as they have many different, conflicting, and/or outdated pieces of advice.

We use it for ecommerce of our retail products. It integrates well with our platform (Big Commerce), and allows us to manage everything via our own backend systems.
  • Integration with Big Commerce
  • Product Exposure
  • Managing customers
  • Has been unable to display account balance for over 12 months now.
  • Payouts could be quicker
  • Frequently falsely rejects items from being listed because they are against policy (they are not)
Orders from Facebook and Instagram are imported into our platform seamlessly. They automatically get marked as shipped and updated with tracking when we ship them out. Customer communication is not the best, due to site issues. If there is an issue with an order, we frequently need to revisit these orders to communicate with the customer because of error messages when trying to contact them.
  • Since there are no commissions, it is a great channel to sell on
  • Inability to show account balance means we need to download a report and manually check everything
  • It takes too long to receive payments, they are held for 2 days. No email or message is generated when a payment processes, they just appear in your bank account at random.
It is inferior to all of those products, but since there are zero listing fees and zero commissions it is worth the effort to use it. I have already mentioned all of the pros & cons, so will not bother to do so again here.
You can only contact support via Facebook Messenger. They are fairly quick to respond, but cannot always help you. When items get falsely flagged as inappropriate for the platform, it is a crap shoot whether or now submitting them to be re-evaluated will pan out.
No I did not. It is not worth the additional cost.
Yes
I was told they are aware of it and working on it. It can take a loooong time to get resolved. The account balance issue has been going on for more than 12 months now.
Site navigation isn't the best, but there are many tools available for you to use. Plenty of data on metrics and everything else you would be looking for on a platform like this.
  • Viewing sales data
  • Viewing item performance
  • Managing orders via your own backend
  • Viewing account financial data (broken)
  • Contacting customers
  • Submitting products for re-evaluation
Yes, but I don't use it
Other than a few minor issues that I do not recall, it was rather straight forward and easy to do via Big Commerce.
  • Big Commerce
  • Shippo
Very easy, set and forget.
If you are on a platform like Big Commerce or Shopify, it should be very easy to get your products listed on Facebook and Instagram, and you won't need to use Commerce Manager much at all.
