Dropbox has been a vital part of my organization's document storage and collaboration for several years. It has proven to be invaluable with sharing, securing, and restoring data. Syncing document across devices in a seamless manner was one of the initial objectives that were achieved. Dropbox has been our go to solution for the past 10+ years.

restoring files from a Dropbox cloud based solution is a vital feature.

Cons

Document sharing and commenting could be improved
Improved social collaborations would make Dropbox more stickie
Increased integration points with other solutions would make Dropbox more valuable.

Dropbox has allowed my organization to onboard new users easily without deep technical requirements

Usability

Dropbox is a solid platform with a strong brand recognition. Document storage and collaboration is a mature market, with ever changing requirements. Dropbox allows you to quickly deploy a cloud solution in a compliant manner, without a huge investment in infrastructure. I think the overall usability is appealing to a diverse group of individuals and businesses alike.

Alternatives Considered

Google Drive, OneDrive, IBM Cloud App ID and Box

Dropbox fares well against the other solutions in the market. We use various platforms across our organization, but Dropbox has been the most widely used. I think the track record and longevity have allowed us not to shop around for other solutions.

Dropbox works well in the individual and small business space. I am unfamiliar with Dropbox as an enterprise solution.
