Overall Satisfaction with Lifesize Video Conferencing

Make sure you have enough Band Width available, dedicated is the way to go.
We use it across the whole organization and have users outside of our organization daily. We use it for board meetings, whole organizational meetings, and for individuals who need to connect with a manager/officer in the org. We rely on this system to be flawless and it has been for the last 2 months.
  • Lifesize Video Conferencing can be used on any computer that connects to the internet, including phones, iPad, Surface Pro's etc. The main key here is internet access, it must be robust enough to handle the bandwidth.
  • It is fairly easy to use across a wide variety of domains.
  • Video is clear and sound is very good.
  • Connections are lost due to a variety of influences, one being the bandwidth with others connected from an outside source such as their laptop, phone, tablet, each uses about 1.5mg, add them all up on the same network and your BW takes a hit. All of these influence whether this system works up to its potential.
Lifesize would be well suited if you had a dedicated direct line to the Lifesize system. If you share Lifesize with other users that use the same network you will get dropped calls if connected at the same time and BW is maxed out.

We have a Charter connection that is shared by visitors in the bank. We lose connections and have to restart the cloud connection during a half hour long conference. We tried it on our network and it did not work hardly at all so we increased our bandwidth by switching to MPLS, this did not work and we had multiple dropped calls. After Lifesize put their engineers on the problem we found we had issues with our network setup.

Using Lifesize Video Conferencing

70 - Standard users can support LIfesize video conferencing. It was very easy to train other users on how to use Lifesize from multiple products, conference room, cell phone, laptops, Surface II, ipads. I have trained many different types of employees. All board members on phone and Surface II, CEO President, Market President St. Paul, MN, Market President LaCrosse, Wi. WI., HR manager, VP Business Banker MN, WI., Operations department and a lot of others in the organization.
  • We are in 5 different locations. There are weekly Lifesize meetings with all the managers from all the locations.
  • Every month the board members get together and some are driving in their cars, or at an airport so need it to work on their phones and laptops, some are at a Lifesize meeting room, or different meeting rooms without Lifesize but they still can connect as long as I give them the codec.
  • Every month we have department meetings from all departments at all locations.
  • We have a bank wide meeting every month. All locations are one, and anyone traveling can get on also.
  • Just meetings between employees to discuss issues or upcoming events. very important issues.
  • When we aquire another branch we would install Lifesize to connect to the rest of the branches.
Very good audio, video and multiple ways to connect to it. Very reliable. We did have some issues with losing our connection and Lifesize connected us with a technician who worked with us for 2 months to figure out why we we losing connections, come to find out that we had our router configured wrong. Once this was fixed we have had no issues since. Lifesize did not charge us anything.
  • Very Positive impact. We can not function with out this form of connecting our branches to discuss issues face to face. Without it we would be spending money on alternative ways to see each other.
  • We feel connected to our employees when we can see their faces on the video conference. It is costly to drive to the outlying branches and this saves us time and money.
  • During a board meeting some board members can not be present. They connect through Lifesize Cloud to the meeting and can have input while watching and hearing the other individuals on the call.
  • During a meeting we have had individuals in their cars driving and they will have their phones on Lifesize Cloud so they can hear the meeting and collaborate.
  • We have had more than 5 different individuals connected at the same time from different locations.
70 - Finance and banking.

Evaluating Lifesize Video Conferencing and Competitors

Yes - Webex. Webex can not hold a candle to Lifesize for video or audio. We needed something specializing in video/audio and Lifesize fit the bill. Lifesize was much easier to configure and easier to start a meeting. We didn't need a laptop to connect either.
Not sure I would do anything different.

I thought if the product worked like advertised this would solve a lot of problems where a member can not make it to a meeting in person as long as the reliability was great. We wanted a clear video and sound that didn't seem to come from a barrel.

Lifesize Video Conferencing Support

Very good and reliable support, I can get a hold of someone in person instead of a machine every time. They listen and find a solution very quickly. I have never had a bad support issue that wasn't resolved very quickly.

No - We usually don't generally buy premium support and with Lifesize we have not needed it.
Yes, We had issues with dropped calls. Lifesize sent an engineering team to help us determine what the issue was. They worked for 2 months with us to get the issue resolved. We ended up finding out that our router was not configured correctly and fixed it. The issue went away.

  • Connecting to a cloud is breeze, very easy to do.
  • Adjusting the camera to pan and tilt is very easy to do also, along with turning the sound up or down.
  • Very easy to pic the picture you want, If you want to see the computer maximized, no people you can easily, if you want a conference room and no computer, easy to pick from. One of the things it does is if someone talks the screen it automatically puts them up so you can see them talking.
Yes - Works as good as the signal your getting. If you have a good wyfi it comes in flawless, video and voice.

Lifesize Video Conferencing Reliability

We have added Lifesize to many iPhones/Androids/Ipads/laptops/computers, we have added 2 new video conference rooms. No issues with all of these attached at the same time or separate.
We have had no issues about it being unavailable. We have had users dial in and the video was not good, reason was they had a bad connection. So then we just had them dial in and everything worked fine.
Performance is fantastic, video and sound quality is unbeatable it is so clear. When we put up a Power Point slide there is no time delay going from one slide to another. It doesn't slow down anything else in our system.
