Overall Satisfaction with LumApps

We use LumApps for our Intranet. Primary objectives for the project include Centralized information repository, frequently used links or contact forms, Enterprise Org Chart, and communications related to news about the company. We primarily use it without the social or crowd-sourcing elements. The site is managed by a communications team and updated as needed to support company communications initiatives.
  • Several Widget Options - lots of tools to build pages.
  • Org Chart - Org chart is nice as long as your Google Workspace environment is accurate.
  • Flexibility in site layout allows you to customize to your organization's needs.
  • The editing user interface is a bit wonky and occasionally glitchy.
  • The back-end options are not organized super well, which can make it confusing to find the right settings.
  • The customization options are somewhat limited without advanced CSS/dev skills, and the basic functions can be a bit challenging for some non-technical users.
  • Allows for a one-stop-shop, making it much easier to find frequently used materials.
  • Basic employee info lookup (job title etc.).
  • Speeds up onboarding and orientation.
It can be a bit challenging for business users who do not have advanced technical skills. There are a lot of options that can make it easy to break various setups. Users who get off track struggle to get back on track without technical support. Occasionally, there are bugs with the page editor interface that can lead to loss of work/rework.
The Google integration is solid from LumApp's perspective. Our only complaint is the way the Google Drive integration works, but this appears to be due to technical limitations from Google. Overall this integration is good but also depends heavily on the presence of, and accuracy of User data in Google Workspace.
LumApps is more fit for purpose for a collaborative intranet. Lots of features related to internal communications. However, some of the tools provided are not intuitive for people who have experience with other CMS platforms. The setup is a bit challenging, and will likely require the support of an implementation partner if you do not have a development/creative team in-house.

Do you think LumApps delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with LumApps's feature set?

Yes

Did LumApps live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of LumApps go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy LumApps again?

No

LumApps would be well suited for an organization that wants an internal website with social interaction and sharing across the org. It works best if there is a solid vision and strategy. There are many options and it can be overwhelming so it is important to have the plan in place. Less well suited to small or non-technical teams. Requires some CMS management skills.
