Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use to send newsletters to customers and potential customers. We were looking for a way to reach our users with information on upcoming events and promotions. Mailchimp works well for allowing us to do so with relative efficiency while creating nice looking emails. We have a fairly small mailing list which works well in the plans offered by Mailchimp. The design tools do a good job walking the line between ease of use and ability to customize things.

Alternatives Considered

Twilio SendGrid and Constant Contact

For small to medium users, Mailchimp to be the best option. Evaluating cost and ease of use, we found it to be a good choice. It did everything we needed while costing less than the alternatives we looked at for our use case. The ability to get up and running quickly was a key factor in our decision.

Usability

Mailchimp is a good choice for many users. It is easy to use for basic functions and does a good job providing needed features. They make it easy to get started and get your first email out. The tools to develop more advanced emails are there but can be a bit difficult to find or use.

All-in-One Marketing Platform

We have not used many of the all in one marketing features they include, but there are a number of extra features available, such as landing page and content creation. They also include a nice ability to automate sending follow up emails and creating drip campaigns. While not vital, these are nice features to have available.

Lessons for Success

Being able to quickly and efficiently reach our customers to let them know about upcoming events has been a great benefit. Communication with your customers is vital, and Mailchimp makes it easy to do so. Staying in front of the user helps keep them engaged and makes for more loyal customers.

Mailchimp is well suited for basic use, especially with smaller contact lists. It works very good in cases where you need to get something setup and sent out quickly. For many users, out of the box, it will do everything they need and more. It can be a bit tougher to use if you are in need of very custom emails or templates. It may not be the best option for large contact lists.
