Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Online

We have used QuickBooks Online to manage bookkeeping and contractors for two businesses for the past decade. QuickBooks Online replaced the desktop version that we used previously for accounting, vendor management, and payments.

Pros

  • Expense Tracking
  • Vendor Payments
  • 1099 Reporting
  • Daily Sales Snapshot Reporting
  • Bank Balance integrations to reconcile easily

Cons

  • Time Tracking integrations with other solutions need to be improved.
  • Customized fields are sometimes difficult to track and setup.
  • Pricing increases over 5 years almost doubled the original cost. Better tiered offering may retain existing customers.
  • We were able to leverage forecasts modeling into our business plan
  • We were able to better predict cashflow from sales and invoices due without the manual efforts.
QuickBooks Online is widely used by Accounting and Bookkeeping professionals. This is a testament to a highly functional and usable product. The average beginner to bookkeeping and accounting may be a pick up on some of the modules, however, training would be helpful and needed for the novice user. I would say that the usability is above average, but there is always room for improvement.
QuickBooks Online is a market leader relative to many of the solutions named above. However, there are a wide variety of capable solutions in the market. Many of them focus on industry specific solutions that strengthen their position. I selected QuickBooks Online as a fast start solution and had prior working knowledge of the platform for many years.

QuickBooks Online is a well known brand that many small businesses are familiar with. The ability to setup a company is quick and easy with a cloud based deployment from QuickBooks Online. There are many marketplace applications available for various industries that need to capture more data as part of their business process. This makes the core product, plus the marketplace offering a robust offering.
