Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Online

We use QuickBooks Online for basic bookkeeping (transaction logging & categorizing, expense & mileage reports), invoicing, processing online payments using ACH & credit cards, and tracking client payments.

Pros

  • builds relationships with bookkeeping and accounting service providers

Cons

  • They could care about customers who are direct users (as opposed to bookkeepers/accountants)
  • They could provide support that actually resolves issues (or, at least, resolves them in less time than it takes to solve the problem on ones own)
  • They could actively work to solve issues reported via the community support forums
  • It allows me to work with the kinds of providers I need in order to properly scale my business
  • In my experience, it has wasted my own personal time on multiple occasions
  • In my experience, it insists upon forcing its horrible AI nonsense into processes with no way for me to opt out
I would use any other platform other than QuickBooks Online if I thought I had any realistic option. I used a separate invoicing tool that I loved that I had to stop using because it didn't adequately integrate with QuickBooks Online, so, in my experience, I was forced to use their invoicing and payment tools or pay more to my preferred service providers for their services. In my opinion, their UX is awful, the UI is clunky, and their support is less than useless.
I only selected QuickBooks online to control the cost of bookkeeping and accounting for my company. FreshBooks was a delight to use, with excellent support, intuitive UI, and easy integrations. The only reason I stay with QuickBooks is because I personally do not have the patience, and my company does not have the internal bandwidth & revenue to justify, a complete abandonment of this Intuit product (but we actively refuse to use any other Intuit product)

I would give them a 0 if I could. The only reason I use QuickBooks Online is because the service providers I want to work with will only work with QuickBooks Online. In my opinion, they have such a large marketshare that they can do whatever they want without actually providing quality service.
