Overall Satisfaction with ScienceLogic SL1

We currently use ScienceLogic in our NOC. We use it to monitor customer devices. We also use it as a ticket system.
  • Collecting information through SNMP from the managed devices and reporting it back to the DB server.
  • There are some really detailed hooks and runbook actions that can be configured to do a lot of different things.
  • Their entire interface needs a drastic overhaul. Feels like software from the early 90s.
  • The entire system could use a complete tear down and rebuild. Its extremely clunky and very difficult to use.
  • Their ticket system needs to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch. Extremely difficult to use, no time tracking, outdated interface, etc.
Basic SNMP collection is all that was done with this. Their power packs proved to provide very very little information of use. Repeated attempts with ScienceLogic support caused us to quit trying to get them to help improve the experience.
We are not using it to support any new growth. When the contract runs out, we plan on getting out. As I said, their ticket system is terrible and lacks a lot of features. We are in need of a decent ticketing system with time tracking.
It doesn't. This is a very outdated system.
  • We were able to get alerts to text to our engineers on off-hours when a device for a specific customer went down.
  • We have not had much in the way of ROI with ScienceLogic. The cost of the product eats into the ROI a tremendous amount.
ScienceLogic is decades behind these other products I have used and tested. If management will listen to me, we will not have ScienceLogic after the contract end date.
It is well suited for monitoring of network devices, but you can get a free product that does the same or better than ScienceLogic. The price of ScienceLogic would rule it out for me in the future. This software is drastically overpriced for the outdated system.
