Overall Satisfaction with Squarespace

Squarespace is being used as a supplemental campaign site in tandem with our main corporate site. Our marketing department is using it to easily and quickly execute a low-code/no-code solution for websites instead of having to work with a developer to build a campaign site that will have a short lifespan and have minimal complexity.
  • Building info sites with "standard" functionality
  • Easy to deploy for non-technical users in a Marketing environment
  • Getting a quick, nice looking site with minimal weekly maintenance.
  • Has a glass ceiling, some products in this space have more extensiblility at the trade off of more maintenance.
  • All-in-one means you have to go with their options (which they have plenty of!)
  • More granular design control would be beneficial to making sites feel less templated.
  • Keeps costs low - allows minimal development costs with DIY WYSIWYG editor
  • Quick to deploy - minimal bureaucracy in getting from idea to execution
  • Limited extensiblility - don't expect to revolutionize website design or functionality with this product but it will help you deliver a solid site on time and under budget
Squarespace is the top of the pack when it comes to "set it and forget it" website builders. Wordpess is slightly more flexible but still requires a watchful eye from and administrative standpoint. Others, like Drupal, are more extensible but are better for larger websites that requires robust functionality and self-developed features.
This product is best suited for small to midsize business environments where there is a logical "ceiling" to what the customer will want. Also, this product is useful for secondary sites (landing pages, or campaign sites that have a limited lifespan) in larger corporate/enterprise environments that want to keep costs low.
