Perfect tool when things have to be done remotely!!
Overall Satisfaction with TeamViewer
We use TeamViewer to transfer files between systems, chatting, remote access machines to install software or perform troubleshooting. The product is primarily used by IT team (network administrators, server administrators & service desk teams) to help both internal staff and customers. TeamViewer helps securely connect with internal and external system and carry out various sensitive operations.
Pros
- Whiteboard feature is super effective when we have to explain a problem or illustrate something to the user (both internal and external).
- Ability to safely and securely connect with the customer system is a big plus. Since the product has been in existence for a really long time, this makes it easier for us to have customers use them without us having to convince them much
- One great feature is the ability to drag and drop the files from one computer to another while helping someone solve a problem where we need one particular file, you don’t need to waste the time downloading it to his machine or emailing it over. If you have the file, you can copy it over with few clicks.
Cons
- [I feel] TeamViewer does not work well with Proxy servers.
- Need for high speed Internet is another hassle. This has been detrimental at times when we are working on a remote session with customers who are in an average network coverage area [in my experience].
- TeamViewer does not support full screen and high resolution monitors.
- We save 10-15% of the time by not downloading files repeatedly on systems - dragging and dropping files from central locations saves on time and bandwidth
- Whiteboarding makes it easier to explain complex situations to customers when on a remote session with them. This becomes all the more effective when there is a wider audience in the session and we have to get our points/thought process across
- YOY we save close to 20% of the costs/time by not having our team travel to remote locations to install or patch something. Since we work in the Maritime space, it becomes increasing tangible when we have to patch something on a ship which is several miles in the ocean.
