UKG Pro offers value, ease-of-use for customers with configurability and system tools
Overall Satisfaction with UKG Pro
I was part of the original project team that implemented UKG Pro (then UltiPro) for our company in 2017 to 2018. We were also a beta customer for the Benefits Prime (now Benefits Administration) system. We have since added additional modules to our platform, including Performance Management, Compensation Management, LMS (integrated with LinkedIn Learning), and UKG Dimensions (in progress now). We have integrated UKG Pro with our SuccessFactors succession planning system and our iCIMS Recruiting and Onboarding system.
UKG Pro manages all of our associate HR, Payroll and Benefits data seamlessly and integrates our multiple platforms that I support as part of the IT Corporate Applications department. We have found that the system is easy to navigate and use for our business customers, and also provides excellent training and documentation materials for customers.

Pros
- Easy to navigate pages for HR, Payroll, Benefits and System Administrators
- Excellent BI reporting resources and sample/demo reports
- Customization resources for system pages via Platform Configuration
- Mass upload capability via the Mass Update feature and Import Tool
Cons
- Unable to process Promotions as part of the Compensation Management merit process
- Unable to view configuration tables in the Benefits Administration (PlanSource) system
- Difficulty in configuring security for managers who require visibility to more than one Org Level hierarchy in UKG Pro
- Platform configuration fields are difficult to add to queries and do not interface to other modules/systems
- Positive impact on employee engagement as evidenced by our increasing Annual Associate Survey scores
- Positive impact on data accuracy and integrity
- Positive impact on reporting capabilities and availability of real-time statistical data
- Cost/time savings for HR staff to manage data changes via workflow
- Positive response to increased functionality in the Mobile app (this should increase again with our implementation of UKG Dimensions)
We have been able to centralize the "system of record" for all US-based associates' HR-related data to come from one system - the UKG Pro HR/Payroll system, and are planning to implement a second component company to track Contractors and Temps, and then to eventually add our Global (International) associate population into UKG Pro. This centralization has enabled us to integrate our EE data with our Active Directory via a bidirectional interface via Boomi, and also to utilize interfaces to load peripheral systems such as concur expense Management, our iCIMS Recruiting/Onboarding system, Alchemy/Intellex training systems, and our SAP SuccessFactors system with key EE demographic data from UKG Pro. Finally, we implemented interfaces to our internal BI Data Warehouse to provide consolidated reporting and dashboards for our managers and key Executives.
I have experienced increased personal and job-related satisfaction from learning and implementing new features/modules in our UKG Pro system which assist our business users to be more productive in their daily tasks for HR, Payroll and Benefits. I have also increased my own technical knowledge using the tools and training for BI, mass imports, Platform Configuration, etc. that are available with the UKG Pro system.
Until I first evaluated and implemented the UKG Pro (UltiPro) SaaS system, my past experience was entirely with on-premise HCM/Payroll systems and/or third-party vendors such as ADP. I have been a COBOL software developer for 15 years, a Project Manager and Sr Implementation Consultant with ADP, and a PeopleSoft HRIS/Systems Analyst for 15 years prior to working with UKG Pro. I was pleasantly surprised at how far the UKG Pro system has developed since the early inception of UltiPro, and have enjoyed working with this new SaaS platform which takes a lot of the heavy lifting off of System Admins such as myself, while still allowing for significant customization and configuration in the core system.

UKG Pro Feature Ratings
Upgrading UKG Pro
Yes - We are in the process of implementing the UKG Dimensions system for Timekeeping at all of our 37 US-based locations. We went live with Phase 1 of the project just this week but have experienced a system bug in UKG Pro which prevents the "Update Employees" process from being run to apply modified Auto Assignment Rules against the UKG Pro database. The issue was escalated to the UKG Pro development team, and we are still waiting for a permanent resolution of this issue.
- Integration of timekeeping module with UKG Pro HCM system
- Easier to use UI, navigation and 'look-and-feel' now common to both systems (UKG Pro and Dimensions)
- SSO login for employees and managers
- Added functionality with Timekeeping, Advanced Scheduling and Attendance modules
- Integrated Mobile app (UKG Pro and Dimensions)
- Continuing to provide additional functionality, reporting and dashboards.
- Automation of previously manual processes, such as weekly schedules in our manufacturing facilities.
- Real-time hours data for productivity KPIs and management decision-making.
- Full integration of core HCM system with UKG Dimensions (Org Levels, Jobs, etc.)
UKG Pro Training
We did receive training and utilized the training resources provided by our UKG Pro and UKG Dimensions project teams. We also developed our own internal training that is customized to our individual specifications and environment. Both are useful and I would not recommend trying to implement or use the products without training and guidance. They are fairly intuitive and easy to navigate, but training increases the likelihood of a successful implementation, proper configuration of system features, and an ongoing successful adoption of the product.
