Adobe Analytics

Adobe Analytics is great for customizing once you get used to the bogged down UI and the unhelpful location of items. we've used it to mimic paywall systems of costly companies. We have base reports set up to manage our paywalls set up in Adobe and they work great. But getting at the minute data is where the issue comes in and the add-ons are needed.

Lotame

Lotame is a great tool for finding deeper insights about your audience and finding ways to expand your reach. I would recommend it for anyone looking to take the next step in their media strategy to begin using third-party data more effectively. The team at Lotame is also extremely helpful and engaged.

Pros

  • Custom implementation, which is not something you can easily get with Google Analytics, at least not the free version.
  • Ease to build custom reports, you just pick your metrics from any report and voil√†.
  • Segments and metric breakdowns.
Thais Guimaraes, OMCP profile photo
  • Its ability to show different affinities of audience segments
  • Creating and customizing audience segments
  • Great reporting features to help learn more about audience segments and media performance

Cons

  • The navigation, especially the left nav, has always been confusing, especially for new users. It has improved A LOT over the last few years, but there's still lots of room for improvement.
  • The charts are never good, it's really hard to get an out-of-the-box chart on Analytics that actually makes sense.
  • Account switching through marketing cloud is still a little buggy sometimes.
Thais Guimaraes, OMCP profile photo
  • The user interface is usable, but could use some improvements
  • Organizing campaign data and tags is completely up to you as the user, which while very flexible, can be confusing to first time users

  • New pricing models are very expensive compared to old pricing model, even though it includes several additional tools, most of which seem to be beneficial
  • Horrible support experience despite working with escalation teams to try and resolve
  • Several bugs in recent releases which remain unresolved for many months at a time

Usability

Adobe Analytics6.8
Based on 9 answers
Based on new user feedback, everyone has found it challenging to find what they need and customize reports to meet their desired outcomes. Different interfaces have inconsistent presentations and layouts which compound the challenge.

Support

Adobe Analytics5.7
Based on 9 answers
I have had many clients that are not thrilled with some aspects of the support. I think the actual day-to-day technical support (ClientCare) is great, but I have heard (and experienced) complaints about the the longer-term services (initial implementation, account management).

In-Person Training

Adobe Analytics3.6
Based on 3 answers
Myself and others have found the in-person training ok, but not outstanding. Trainers are good at explaining how to use the product features, but sometimes lack "real-world" experience on how to use the product as they are people who have often not previously been web analysts. There is also a shortcoming in company-provided training on advanced uses of the product. The implementation training is very good.

Online Training

Adobe Analytics8.0
Based on 4 answers
The online training for Adobe SiteCatalyst consists of short product videos. These are ok, but only go so far. For a while Adobe charged a fee for this, but recently made these available for free. There are many great blog posts that help users learn how to apply the product as well.

Implementation

Adobe Analytics8.0
Based on 7 answers
The success of implementations depend primarily on the solution design, and also on the ability to work with developers to get the solution implemented correctly. This is not an aspect of the product per se.

Alternatives Considered

We also use Google Analytics. I still use Google Analytics for evaluating Google Adwords, but use Adobe Analytics for most of my day to day analysis. We chose Adobe analytics because we were using some other Adobe products that this ties into nicely. We also wanted better ways to segment our traffic between our B2B and B2C and this gave us the flexibility we needed

Both BlueKai and Krux offered a lot of the same services as Lotame, but their pricetag put them well out of our range. In fact, we were told flat out by one DMP, "unless you have >100MM page views a month, it's not worth talking to us". Lotame offered the most service at the best price.

Return on Investment

  • I have increased my marketing reach by understanding how people are using my website and been able to increase the amount of repeat customers. I attribute this to ease of navigation as a result of Adobe Analytics and my push to understand it.
  • I spend less time on campaigns that do not work and am more responsive to what viewers want.
  • I am able to see the exact point at which a customer leaves my site and have some insight into why that is happening where it is.

  • We're winning direct media campaigns that we would never have won without Lotame's ability to segment the audience, full stop.
