When working often with contracts and the need to keep track of a lot of different clients, Adobe Sign is really helpful. Early in my business when I didn't have a large number of clients and I did most everything in person, it would have been a more unnecessary luxury for me. Now that I do a lot of work online and my clients are reaching farther and farther and more regularly hire me from over an hour drive away and sometimes out of state, I've found it extremely helpful when I can't meet in person. I've even moved to doing all contracts through Adobe Sign, even if we are meeting in person

HelloSign

HelloSign is well-suited for documents which can be mostly completed online, such as tax forms and voter registration, and you don't want to go to the trouble of printing them out and mailing them, especially if time is of the essence. All you need to do is save a signature to HelloSign, slap it on to the document, download it, and email it to the proper parties.

Pros

  • Instant emails and confirmations are a huge plus for me. I know that something is sent or when it is signed. The emails let me know and I can immediately download and print the signed copy for my paper records.
  • Easy filling of forms helps keep me moving quickly. I can open a document I've created and Adobe Sign will go through and detect where there are spaces for form filling. This lets me work quickly by filling in the blanks or marking them for the signer.
  • Streamlined for my clients. They love the ease that they can click through and sign and initial the contract or fill in any sections that they have to add text too. This shows them a level of professionalism in a saturated market to let them feel confident in their choice of a high quality photographer.

  • HelloSign's online dashboard for managing contracts is nicely designed. As a designer myself, I greatly appreciate services that have a great interface and are easy to use.
  • HelloSign's email notifications are perfect. As long as the document has been delivered to my client but hasn't been signed, I'll receive a daily email letting me know the document was sent out and is still waiting to be signed.
  • HelloSign adds a "Audit Trail" page to the final signed PDF. On it they list the dates and times when the document was sent, viewed, and signed (including the IP for each person performing the actions). Love this feature.

Cons

  • Sometimes I get mixed up between preparing a document in Acrobat and sending it off for signature in Adobe Sign. I'm not sure where the disconnect is, but I'll prepare the form in Acrobat and once I click to send it, either more spaces will populate where I've already created text boxes, etc., or I won't be able to edit the ones I had created. This could be user error, but I do have some frustration with how to keep from duplicating text boxes or a form not letting me complete it when I'm into Adobe Sign before I send.

  • When you first sign in to HelloSign, it automatically has you on a view of *only* the agreements that *you* sent. It can get frustrating since most of the time, I need to view contracts sent by other people. Not just myself. I think it would be smarter to start on the *all* section, rather than the person section. Considering your personal contracts will appear in search as well. But, obviously, this is an extremely nitpicky complaint.
  • There have been a few times when the integration has gone down. I would say that within the last year of using HelloSign, our integration with our CRM has crashed three times. Which may not seem like a lot. But it pretty much puts our sales floor offline.
  • When we first signed up for HelloSign, the contracts would import a copy directly into their file in our CRM. Unfortunately, due to safety precautions, this benefit has gone away. I would hope that maybe someday this could return because it was extremely helpful.

It is by far the easiest service we have used to obtain digital signatures from employees. In the past we had done it by hand (a process I would not recommend for 1500+ employees) and with another company that would not allow us to create our own forms and would charge us for each form.

It was very easy for me to understand and learn to use. However, when I have trained others on the software who have less experience with technology it can be a little overwhelming at first. However, everyone that I have trained, once they know how to use it, it's easy for them to use on a daily basis. On the flip side, I have had employees who need little to no training at all. They are able to figure it our and navigate it on their own

Online Training

The best types of training are well integrated into the product and Echosign does this well. As mentioned earlier in my review - there are some areas of functionality that can be difficult to understand ("only I sign") for the novice user.Other areas such as macro usage, bulk signature and so on were easily learned and understood via the online tools.

It's very important to identify areas that will expose as many users as possible to your e-signature platform. Even if your goal is to automate the more common areas such as sales... take the opportunity to utilize the functionality across your entire contract and agreement spectrum... you will maximize your ROI and often identify new areas of opportunity to leverage the platform.

Alternatives Considered

I used them because I had previous positive experiences with them, but now that I am at Cali Bamboo I am looking to move away from them to a company like DocuSign because they have the same features and functionality but more flexible pricing and better reps.

We are technically still using RightSignature for our older contracts, however, I much prefer HelloSign. The dashboard and interface of HelloSign are much more user-friendly than RightSignature. I also feel that the emails sent to clients are easier to follow and we have had more success capturing signatures through HelloSign than RightSignature. I also feel that because HelloSign is more modern, we are able to benefit from the service more through integrations and automation.

Return on Investment

  • Saved a lot of time in tracking signatures for policy acknowledgements.
  • Ease of access for employees to sign off on form.
  • Don't have to wait for someone to create the form for us. Can have form created and out in a matter of minutes.
  • Only negative is the amount of time it takes to print off acknowledgments once they come in. It would be fantastic if there was a print all feature (form and audit).

  • Overall, I would say that HelloSign has had a positive ROI due to the fact that more of our customers are able to sign their agreement at the beginning of service. Due to this, more customers are fulfilling their legal agreement with our company.
  • We use to have an issue with customers implementing "chargebacks" with their bank; claiming that they never agreed to our services. With HelloSign, we are able to easily produce copies of signed agreements with IP address detection that is legally binding.
  • As mentioned previously, when the HelloSign integration has downtime, it does negatively impact our sales floor. I hope this occurrence remains minimal.
