ADP is well suited when you have a large workforce. We have over 450 employees and frequently have those who are hired and those who retire. It's such a great opportunity to give employees ownership of their own employee information.I think if you have a small business, it may be hard to justify the cost of ADP. However, the fact that they can take care of your payroll and taxes and such is pretty awesome.

Crelate Talent

Crelate is wonderful if you just want basic candidate tracking. It does everything it needs to do on that front - let you track the stages the candidate is in, have their resume and contact info ready, as well as their current position. The extension that allows you to mine from LinkedIn is also very handy and I use it daily. It works very well. You can easily add candidates to open opportunities and if you are organized, Crelate can be really helpful. If you don't want to put in a lot of the legwork, Crelate may not be for you. There is a lot of manual work that you must do to make Crelate functional - all tagging, any information that doesn't come in through the resume or LinkedIn (and you have to double check because, like with anything, there are sometimes errors in the import). It's not a very streamlined platform and not intuitive. But as I said, if you need a basic ATS, it'll do the job.

Pros

  • Responding to issues through customer service. For example, having a custom report made, having pay codes adjusted or changed.
  • Payroll - the payroll process is smooth and there are graphs to analyze the current payroll cycle and it can be compared to prior payrolls. Great reporting from payroll as well.

Cons

  • I would have liked to see some more flexibility in the reporting tool.
  • I really wanted to see more data/employees on a single page than the limited view (I think 15 or 20 in the version I was using). There was no ability to scale the window to allow me to see more than those few candidates at a time
  • I would love for them to include a simple click on the payroll roll up side for me to easily see YTD totals rather than have to go in and select each individual check to include in the roll up.

  • Would be better to incorporate texting feature directly to my existing phone number, rather than use a separate system.
  • Sending calendar invites is a little hard to remember how to do - could be a bit more intuitive.
  • Need faster support - online chat would be great.
  • Click to dial works well, but would be nice to "record" the event in the contact record.

The instructions from the recruiting agency on how to use the system was pretty straightforward. It provided step-by-step procedures on where you would need to log in your hours as well as what you would need to highlight (i.e. regular, overtime, etc.) detailing the type of hours that were worked overall. The handout also provided some pictures of the application

Implementation

Either assign more than one specialist to the implementation process, or assign less clients to the implementation specialist. The process requires attention to detail and the ability to test and re-test as well as verify the information. It also requires a lot of back and forth between the client ant the implementation specialist, so they need to be readily available during the whole implementation process.

Alternatives Considered

ADP Workforce Now is NOT ADP's most impressive product (previous versions like ADP Enterprise were far superior) but ADP in general is my preference. Systems I have used:Ceridian- The Payroll Tax function/reporting/filing/amendment process was not as strong as ADP. HR was an afterthought. Workday- I was not impressed with their Payroll module, or Payroll Tax Table/Setup. The HCM module was fantasticADP Enterprise- Very consistent all around. Great support model, massive Reporting capabilities, global ability (used ADP Streamline and maintained headcount for 16 countries with no issues)

  • better support than zoho, not as good (but getting there) as PCR
  • Crelate is a smaller company, nimble and has ear of the customer

  • We are consultants for companies that have chosen WFN so ROI is not relevant for us but I believe it is good return if implemented properly

  • We keep all our notes on Crelate - very useful for the whole team to see
  • We have multiple team members scheduling so it really helps to see all the emails that have gone out, to ensure there's no overlap
