The competitors offer a cloud solution, but in more of a clouded document management way. There is no way to live edit files with Carbonite Safe. Dropbox and OneDrive offer you the ability to open the file and use it from the cloud.
Carbonite Safe is the only one that I know of that is autonomous. The other solutions require the user to place things in a certain spot or to copy it manually. Carbonite Safe is "set it and forget it".
We use Easus backup as our on site backup solution. Carbonite is definitely in line with what the industry is offering, with the added reliability of multiple offsite storage locations. I am not sure of a company with as good a reputation.
Carbonite Server's direction wasn't really for cloud companies as they are more specialized in robust local backup services. I'm a novice when it comes to server backups and replication, but have learned and picked up a lot from talking to the customer center compared to Veeam …
As the Carbonite Server Backup tool is one of the best among all backup tools in the market, we like to opt it for several customers. It's very user friendly and most reliable. Deployment part and support is also good.
We migrated from NetBackup as we wanted to get rid of our Tape library and media used. We also compared with Veeam to replace the Carbonite server backup. We changed our plan, as we needed storage. It is not in our budget. We continued with Carbonite as they are cheaper in …
We originally used a backup product from Microsoft. It was so glitchy and difficult to set up. We spent a lot of time on the phone with their tech team trying to get it to work. They would come up with different reasons and fixes but in the end, it couldn't do the job so we …
Carbonite Safe is a great solution for startup entities. It ranks nicely with Acronis and Carbonite Server Backup. Carbonite Safe is very good for backing up workstations including home computers. This is a good solution for home office users. Acronis does image level backups …
Amazon Cloud Drive deleted TONS of photos I backed up years ago. I'll never trust it again. I liked Dropbox better than Box b/c of its interface and intuitiveness. Google Drive is easy but doesn't back up automatically.
We used Symantec before EVault and our backups were large and took a long time. We were not confident in incremental backups given the amount of data we have, so we needed something that would take a backup and then only grab the changes. Carbonite EVault does that for us.
We're in the financial industry, so there are certain standards that we make sure we're following. Outsourcing that role to a specialist in the area helps lighten our work load to we can concentrate on day-to-day business activities and not outside regulations. Flexibility, …
We have looked at Symantec Backup Exec and actually use it for some of our less important systems. We are currently taking a look at Veeam as an alternative to EVault because of the real-time replication to live machines that Veeam may be able to provide. But so far, EVault has …
We have not used or evaluated other similar products. My only experience in disaster recovery involved backing up to tapes and taking those tapes to an off-site location to restore the system, which was a much longer process.
I have used HP Data Protector in the past - prefer EVault because I value the cloud solution for its ease of use and reliability. Like the online portal to manipulate backups because it provides mobility. Also like EVault central control software which is very easy to use just …
Product was in place before I started working here. It works well for us because the cost was low and it supported our applications and operating systems. We will be evaluating backup and recovery within 12 months to see if EVault is still the best product for us.
Went out of business but they had a sweet appliance that could be moved and the agents could still find it through a cloud/web site that directed it to it's serial number. Made it great to backup laptops too since they moved around and it wasn't always possible to reconfigure …
Mozy Pro is a great product for entry level and small businesses. It provides simple, effective backups with little to no technical expertise being required by the end users to benefit from it. I found that Code42's CrashPlan, was better when our storage needs increased …
Commvault has a faster restore, but takes much longer to perform the backups. We ran into issues with the backups stepping on each other as they were not completed sometimes before the next backup was to start.
The restores with Rubrik were much faster than HYCU. HYCU resells their Protege 365 backup product, so there was another layer to go through with support.
Networker is really heavy in terms of learning, though it also offers a lot of features and has advantages where no good network connection is available (compression, before sending the data, Rubrik globally dedups) and Networker still offfers tape support. But we decided to …
We selected Rubrik due to the greater support it has for our Hyperconverged platform, Namely, Nutanix AHV. Both the sales pitch and initial support was more rounded than Cohesity and inspired more confidence in the product, Rubrik were able to demo everything we were planning …
Selected Rubrik due to API driven, modern easy to use interface and appliances in a scale out architecture with a secure file system protecting backup data
Veeam was our previous backup option. The downside of Veeam compared to Rubrik is Veeam live inside the VM which is prone to hackers if they got access to VM. Rubrik has its own appliance and MFA is mandatory for Rubrik so that's the main reason we moved over to Rubrik.
Was over 5 years ago when we made the comparison but LOVED that Rubrik was a software and hardware solution with no finger pointing. Solution met all needs and was a turnkey product. Has been easy to maintain and grow over the years.
There is no comparison, Rubrik worked right out of the box and even has support for IBM DB2 databases. Patches and upgrades have been performed without any issues. Database backups are run using default settings without any noticeable impact on the databases/servers and …
I can't knock on Druva other than that their cost was higher than Rubrik, which is why we ultimately went with Rubrik. Veeam was too complicated for a simpleton like myself, and the feature set of Rubrik was exactly what we needed.
Having all our backups under one umbrella made product management easier, with not need to manage myltip contracts.
The additional analysis of the data after the fact gave insights into our user data, without the need for an addition product, or the impact on live data sets.
Rubrik is a more straightforward product to implement and manage. We mainly went with Rubrik for security reasons like ransomware protection and immutable database.
When I used Netvault in the past the interface was NOT intuitive especially when it came to setting up new jobs and adding new VM's to an existing backup job schedule. Adding a new VM used to take me approximately 45 minutes to make sure that everything was assigned properly. …
The biggest thing that Rubrik gave us over using Veeam is the secure appliances. We don't have to have another server to manage that simply runs the backup software, we have a managed appliance with a single update interface. Veeam backup and restore works just as well, but …
rubrik is much easier to deploy and manage. in so many ways. support is much better. sales is much better. customer involvement and response for features is much better. commvault is more granular but that hasn't hurt us. it takes less time to add new instances and less time on …
Of all the tools Cohesity was the closest to Rubrik but the lack of Nutanix support was the deciding factor for us. HYCU is native to Nutanix but without the Nutanix Objects the deduping rate was limited. Veratas fell in the older school classification of process that did …
Comprehensive Technical Comparison requirement gathering and features mapping with requirement Rubrik Team Technical competencies ensures that all area gets covered and product/solution addresses all corners.
Veeam was evaluated as an alternative, however, Rubrik had tighter integration with other infrastructure in the stack, such as storage. Rubrik, being primarily a hardware appliance can be installed much more rapidly.
Mozy Pro is a great fit, especially for small businesses that don't want to pursue a very large number of licenses, and don't have many TB of data to backup. The price per user is reasonable, and well within the budget of smaller businesses needing workstation backup solutions. For larger enterprises, there are other products that provide a lot more storage and better performance. We found Code42's product to be better for larger data backup needs.
Rubrik is great for large enterprises but might not fit the best for smaller sized companies with low backup demands. We have had to restore virtual machines quickly , and Rubrik's quick mount on solid state was tremendous at getting the client back running. The only negative is the mac address changed even though we had checked retain mac. We had to go back into vmware and set it.
Performance Settings: Mozy can be configured to run very smoothly in the background with minimal performance degradation. It provides network bandwidth throttling, backup speed, and backing up only when idle option. From my own experience I usually do not notice any performance degradation when Mozy is running. Of course a good network or Internet connection is vital.
Restore: file restoration is simple and intuitive. The user can restore logical backup sets (e.g. all photos) or file based (select the folder or file you want restored). Files and folders can be restored with the latest version or earlier version. Rename and overwrite options provide further flexibility.
Sync: with Mozy you can sync file across multiple devices including mobile. Access to your corporate files via smart phone is a secure manner is very useful.
Easy onboarding. We were able to make a connection to our M365 environment in less than 5 minutes, and backups were processing within just a couple minutes after that.
Good customer service. From sales to post-implementation, the staff at Rubrik were helpful, professional, and focused on me.
Set and forget. Outside of regular test restores, I don't have to worry about constantly trying to tweak settings within the Rubrik console to get it working better. It just works.
The eVault process is so thorough, sometimes a simple deployment can take much longer than a customer expects.
Their solutions in the past have been targeted to mid-sized to enterprise sized budgets. They now have solutions to fit the small business, but don't market them well.
Carbonite Server Backup does not integrate or support any reporting; it is not good at it. We required monthly and quarterly reports for audit. If we fail in that we get fined or we have to pay a certain amount of money to customer. It does not support cloud instances and we are using N2WS for the cloud instances. This is an additional burden for customers.
The support has been incredible. Any time we have had a question, it has always been answered within 24hrs. Also, the team is always will to hop on a Zoom call to help walk us through the dashboard and troubleshoot any issues we are having. Also, having the peace of mind that our data is protected should anything happen in our system.
Out of all the vendor we deal with they are one of the best when it comes to customers service. Reliable, you can reach them by telephone easily, Great overall can not say anything to the contrary. Usibility is excellent. I recommend them highly whether you need a simple backup ofr more complex for servers etc.
The GUI was successfully designed to be very easy to use and work through. It is a very logical work flow that is easy to navigate and just makes sense. That is part of the charm when in the moment of stress, you can still find your way around and accomplish the desired recovery.
Rubrik's brik is designed with redundancy in mind, ensuring that if one node experiences issues, others can continue to provide backup and recovery services.
I usually find what I need to know by looking in the Carbonite knowledge base online. We haven't had any major problems, usually we just need clarification on a point or more details about a feature so we look it up. We haven't had to call in for help in quite awhile.
Rubrik support is hands down some of the best product support we have. They know their product and are quick to assist. Submitting support cases is easier and they are very responsive. You don't have to use Rubrik support often but when you do they have your back.
Easy to follow and very thorough. Trainer was knowledgeable and helpful answering any questions and providing detailed answers where possible. It's also nice to gain another badge :) There is also the Rubrik University online tutorials to refer back to and keep updated with new innovations. I would say the exam was very hard.
From experience the implementation was smooth and easy, like a simple plug and play format but would need coordination from your network team to be able to see the entire IT infrastructure.
Carbonite Server's direction wasn't really for cloud companies as they are more specialized in robust local backup services. I'm a novice when it comes to server backups and replication, but have learned and picked up a lot from talking to the customer center compared to Veeam where it's mostly just self-learning reading lots of documentation which could be overwhelming at times. We started using Veeam as most of our on-prem servers are ceasing operations as we slowly transition to the cloud. I would still use Carbonite as a fall-back option just in case the cloud fails us. Our company cannot afford to have downtimes as we work closely with a lot of contractors and every minute counts.
Selected Rubrik due to API driven, modern easy to use interface and appliances in a scale out architecture with a secure file system protecting backup data
Very easy to add new 'briks' (or nodes as everyone else calls them :P) as long as the network is plugged in and configured, the briks will discuss among themselves and welcome the new comer into the cluster
While EVault can become expensive if you have a lot of data to store, but you have to keep in mind that it does not cost you anything more to restore your data in the event of an emergency. Some systems give you a great upfront cost, until you actually need to retrieve your data.
