The complexity of development and stability of Spryker weigh in against most of the smaller e-commerce frameworks, like Magento or Shopware. In comparison to SAP Hybris, the licensing costs and complexity of development does not give a better experience than Spryker.
A clear headless / API first architecture is the competitive advantage of the ages Hybris solution. Spryker also shows a cleaner modularisation and with the atomic releases instead of big bang approaches, it takes less effort to stay up to date with the current releases.

It was mostly the fit for purpose for a proof of concept and the wide variety of out-of-the-box functionality that was convincing. As a platform itself, many aspects were very similar across the different platforms.
Spryker is a PHP and open-source stack-based solution, it's more a component framework, and not a traditional software product. You build your own custom solution based on best practices.

I believe CommerceV3 (CV3) is best suited for small to mid-level catalog companies. You would want to make sure to integrate CV3 with your back end system or you'll be doing a lot of manual entries or manipulating data for table uploads. You can easily manage the templates in CV3 with a basic knowledge of HTML and work up from there

Spryker is very well suited (B2C and/or B2B) for big companies with complex and individual business models or also if your company needs a certain level of customization. Very good fit, if you need a scalable system. It is rather not the perfect fit for small companies or companies with very basic E-Commerce needs.
CV3 provides us a plethora of marketing tools to customize offers and campaigns to our customers. I've used BigCommerce and Shopify and neither comes close to the capability of fine tuning sales, offers, and discounts by product, category, customer and more.
The purpose of partnering with any e-commerce platform is to provide a secure site and stable checkout process for our customers. CV3 has been amazing at keeping our site up and running through peak traffic and attempted hacks. The checkout process has been rock solid and also integrates seamlessly with PayPal. I've used Amazon Payments in the past without incident, but decided to end that option due to Amazon's policies.
CV3's architecture on the back-end is designed to be plain and simple which provides an easy-to-use interface to streamline our work. The template driven structure to manage the front-end will become a favorite for most programmers in no time at all. In fact, I'm not a programmer, but do customization and design changes almost on a daily basis with ease. Any changes made to a template may be viewed on a staging server before pushing live. Templates, as well as other data may be downloaded any time for backups. Exports and imports of product data is simple and powerful allowing me to change massive amounts of data easily.
Customer support is always a contentious issue with most providers, however, CV3 has by far been the best I've encountered in over 30+ years of experience with software vendors. They are very responsive and escalate the issue to the proper person without having the redundancy you experience with so many other companies. They understand the issue the first time, and tell you the truth.
Any e-commerce business is about shipping. CV3 has the most powerful tools to control shipping. It will challenge the most creative minds on how to best merchandise products based on weight, dollar amount, global geographical location, dimensions, category, exception rules, by carrier, all the way down to the sku level which can have it's own set of rules. It gets complicated, but it works great and ties in with the promotional features as well.

An area I'd like to see enhanced is the sku level pricing calendar. You can set specials prices to start and stop at certain dates and times, but it's fixed to certain years. You can't have your chosen items go to seasonal pricing every year at the same time, you have to change the years each year.
There are multiple product setups: basic, parent with children, and sub-products. Each type exports on the same datasheet all intermingled and this can be tedious isolating the different types for editing and re-import.
Vendor and Brand are data points on each item, but they are not controlled by a table. We end up with the same vendor or brand misspelled multiple times.
There is no FTP capability (PCI issue?) and no blog site with the parent domain. These have to be handled using a separate sub-domain.
The shipping calculator for customers should be available anywhere there is a shipping option presented during checkout.
Faster live times. Currently, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to see template/product changes pushed to the live cdn.

HAC occasionally functions extremely slowly and does not provide any problem messages; it simply gets stuck. Logging into the Backoffice for testing purposes causes a lot of trouble; it does not enable us to log in in one attempt, and the page refreshes every time we enter in the credentials.
Content - content administration is not a strong part of Spryker, although it improved over the years. I still see room for improvement in the world of bigger CMS systems being able to also do "commerce".
Backoffice-usability - for non-technical users the first few days, weeks and month[s] can be full of surprises. An extended documentation, or more intuitive handling on the backoffice could serve every party on Spryker.
Off-the-shelf internationalization - Spryker right now comes with an initial data set in English and German, which is for a German based company already a pretty stable starting point. Extension on the base data for Europe-wide used countries would be very helpful - French, Italian, Polish, Russian, etc.
SAP Commerce and Spartacus together becomes one of the omnichannel powerhouse of commerce application. It also comes with edge advantage with out of the box integrations with many SAP applications and also non-SAP applciations which gives it edge advantage over other tools. The main reason being the integration becomes easier as SAP shares the common data schema and model across all its product line and new feature releases are compatible with all the SAP product line.
More true headless and a more rationale pricing. Since moving from the Hzbris Monolyth towards SAP Commerce Cloud a lot of progress has been made, but dissecting the monolyth into composable components where you just pay for what you use is still a longer journey and here pricing should be more realistic. Things become so expensive once they have the SAP stamp on them (example the SAP CIAM)
Spryker's usability depends a lot on custom development. Therefore, I would like not to consider usability as something that comes with Spryker Cloud Commerce OS. Spryker Cloud Commerce OS; however, brings all the tools needed to design a solution with great usability.
We have the right to open a ticket or submit request to SAP support teams for all the problems we have experienced. They also provide solutions for critical issues within 48 hours. In addition, the product has support documents such as a user guide and admin guide. In addition, there is a strong community of users. In this way, we can access solution of some specific problems that we have fallen on from there.
Support suffered from Spryker Cloud Commerce OS's rapid growth. Contacts, department heads, and support systems changed frequently. Support processes as well as documentation are rather poor. One notices that they are putting more effort into the customers recently, but in the course of growth, there is still a lack of focus here. As a customer, I would like to see growth at a slower pace and a phase of stabilization.
Scalability of the product was good Seamless integrations were helped in reducing the implementation for the development team to integrate with the SAP ERP Product framework helped customer to customize and adapt the new features which were developed basis business processes and ease of customer experience. Deployment and creation of the build becomes very easy with the CCv2 setup.
In my view, CV3 meets our needs better by allowing us a much easier way to manage the front end the way the templates are structured. BigCommerce recommended using an FTP tool to download, modify, then upload. Shopify has some very sophisticated templates, which, in my mind, required a senior level programmer or lots of outsourcing for even minor changes. Neither of the other systems come close to CV3's marketing capabilities through their promotional tool without any add-ons. Shopify, for example, is stripped down and if you want a certain feature you have to find one of their approved partners, sign-up, integrate the feature and hope it works. To purchase all the features we're currently using in CV3 you'd have quite a list (and expense) of partners. Examples would be enhanced shipping capabilities or the ability to customize a product purchase. CV3 has features specifically geared for a catalog company, like request forms and capturing key codes. Plus, built-in rewards program, wishlist, gift certificates, bulk email, and data feeds for Google Shopper, Channel Advisor and SingleFeed.
SAP Cloud is much better than GoDaddy. it was a smooth transition and every aspect of the program is easier. My scalability increased greatly from GoDaddy to SAp Commerce Cloud and sales are now tracked easier and inventory is at the touch of a button, making sales much easier than previous software.
If you compare Spryker with commerce solutions on the market, you will notice that the focus is not on the front end. Spryker assumes that the store is only one of many possible channels through which customers order today and in the future. To understand the differences, one must therefore take a look at Spryker's architecture. This is divided into the Spryker [Cloud] Commerce OS (the backend with all process-related components), the front-end modules for B2C and B2B, as well as the integration modules (middleware) and interfaces (Glue API).
The business users/admins were able to quickly segment products by brand, allowing for unique branding and header-less page design. As new products are added to the SAP backend, all characteristics and pricing automatically migrate to Commerce Cloud. We also segment our user sign-on (domains) by brand and allow targeting displays.
One positive impact has been the use of product reviews. This feature has helped us weed out bad products and promote good ones while allowing customers to share their experience.
