Considered Both Products
Bonterra OneCause
Chose Bonterra OneCause
It's more cost effective, for starters. OneCause also has the same features when it comes to events, auctions, and fundraising. Lastly, we feel more supported by the OneCause support team and our success manager than we did with alternative platforms.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
OneCause is much more simplified and the service level is much higher. BetterUnite does not have the same level of customer service, and their platform is not as user friendly.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
I was not involved in the selection but I am happy with the choice
Chose Bonterra OneCause
This software is more function inclusive and broad than the others.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
It's the best I think. Greater Giving is out of date and GiveButter is limited in what it can do.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
OneCause had the most features we needed and the support sold us.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
Blackbaud did not have the functionality that I was looking for. I felt like it was too limited. It did not have the silent auction component that I was looking for. Also, Blackbaud charges by the record, which can be very costly, especially when I have a minimum of 10,000 …
Chose Bonterra OneCause
We selected OneCause initially because of the abundance of features. After doing a few events, the price point and frustration were not worth it.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
We absolutely love 4agood cause for day to day/peer to peer fundraising however, it just was not as robust when it came to event needs which required us to use outside software for those reasons. Givesmart was good, however a change in their packages required outside sourcing …
Chose Bonterra OneCause
In our experience, OneCause has more lift on the front end than Greater Giving. Especially since, in my opinion, the registration for a live event isn't of the caliber that I've seen from GG. But, if you can handle the registration and use a third-party tool like GivingFuel or …
Chose Bonterra OneCause
I haven't used anything else.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
OneCause is superior in many ways to GreaterGiving.
The website is easy to navigate and the courses and trainings that are offered allow for a smooth transition.
There is less room for error, and OneCause helps streamline the process of running such a large event. We've had …
Chose Bonterra OneCause
OneCause is the only auction platform we’ve used and it’s been a great experience. Based off research, OneCause is the leading fundraising platform.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
As previously stated, no comparison. Customer service is above and beyond, user-friendly, technically sound, and funds available immediately.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
I have not used any other products like this and don't plan to because OneCause has been so great.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
We looked at Auctria and GiveSmart, though we didn't go into great detail with either. We ultimately selected OneCause based on the recommendation of another local school that used it for its auction software. The customer service and support as we made this decision and …
Chose Bonterra OneCause
OneCause embarasses other platforms due to all that it can do and with the ease of use.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
Much more modern platform that allowed our event to move online
Chose Bonterra OneCause
I would say they are pretty similar. I think OneCause is a bit more user friendly though.
Chose Bonterra OneCause
I personally never used Otego but it was more expensive then OneCause and it was a one night deal. With OneCause we get to keep the software all year and get to do more events/ auctions because of that.

WebEx Events is definitely better suited when it comes to access the large scale audience and getting data from the participants, while providing them ease of access. However for small huddles and meeting set ups, the wider reach of Zoom or teams helps in connecting quickly, …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
We are using Stova now for most events - this is a much more robust tool but certainly does take a lot more training to use it effectively. Their customer support is excellent and pricing is competitive. However their networking tools are very very basic and performed very …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
We may make the switch to Zoom at some point because their new events product is very nice. And the brand recognition of Zoom is helpful for adoption as well. But we stay with Webex Events for now because we are a bit all in on it as it's where we run all of our events.
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
The Webinar experience from Zoom to Webex Events is a night and day difference. With Zoom our team would experience glitching and delays in audio/video, whereas with Webex Events, we would not. The only delay would be in the chat, as it would need time to catch up by a few …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
WebEx Events has the same functionality as many other platforms, but with a more affordable price tag. I have also found it to be more intuitive and easy to use on the user side. I don't have experience on the administrative side with other platforms but we have been very …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
Webex events has proved to be more stable and more accessible while allowing us to keep all the security layers in place. The fact that a person connecting to our trainings from the other side of the globe doesn't need to get his work computer prepared to assist, just his work …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
Webex Events stood out because of the feature allowing for easy sign-on with Google accounts. Our schools use Google accounts for staff email, so this made registration and app access fairly easy. We received very few messages requesting assistance with registration or app …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
Webex Events (Socio) is more conducive to larger meetings and networking. Guidebook served its purpose when our convention was on a smaller scale, and we didn't need additional functionality. Now that we have grown to a 1,000+ meetings, we need to have those additional features …

Socio was the most affordable, has a great team, and they're super easy-to-use. It's a comprehensive tool with a ton of capabilities, but we didn't feel like we were overpaying for a ton of bells and whistles that we wouldn't use.
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
I have had an opportunity to use BlueJeans Meetings before we switched to Webex Events. The main difference that I have discovered is that Webex Events has more conferencing features and less costly as compared to others. It has modern features that helps the user in preparing …

I did thorough research with about 6 other companies before deciding on Webex Events. This included multiple Zoom calls/demos on the product, free trials to try them out, etc. the prompt, and excellent customer service were very noticeable to me. They were very helpful and …

My experience with Webex Events has been the best and every event that we plan and execute with this tool is implemented successfully. The features that are set up in this product are simple and any member joining our meeting finds a simple process. The data dashboard gives us …

WebEx Events has more features and better UI than other event platforms. It has good analytics options and good customer support. It also has lot of features in messaging and meeting. Gamification is good and attendee can have profile with lot of options to have information. …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
We have used multiple virtual event platforms in the past, as well as trialed several. We ultimately decided on Webex due to the aesthetics of the website, the incredibly easy build-out process, the 24/5 support, the user-friendly front-end interface, the multiple ways to …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
Functionality and the ability for people that may not be very tech-savvy to use it was very important and Socio was that platform for my organization and what we needed.
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
It was a close call, but the deciding factor was the unmatched support we got with Socio. At Hopin, we would have to pay thousands extra to have support from their team (with building the site, external and internal questions, linking registration, etc). With Socio, we had …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
By far, Socio offered the greatest value... functionality compared to cost. It was a no brainer! Socio also won the day with customizable and pre-assigned schedules, which save our attendees quite a bit of time! We also appreciated the opportunity to upgrade to the white label …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
Guidebook is more suited for an in-person event, but Socio is more feature-rich.
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
I was not the one who decided to use Socio but we have used another provider last year which was no where near as good. I am not sure who it was, I'm sorry!
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
Socio was the only one who was able to meet its promise to connect to our website and perform as hoped. Their customer service far surpasses the others but they also were price competitive.
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)
We didn't consider any other platforms. Once I came across Socio I knew it was the perfect fit for our event's goals. We had a very short time frame for getting our virtual event set up and the Socio team jumped right in and was SO helpful at getting us up and launched in two …
Chose Webex Events (formerly Socio)

They are very well suited at assisting with troubleshooting at registration. They are very helpful at the end of the event, where we are collecting payments and closing out auction items. The ticket process is confusing, and the table seating process is cumbersome.

I think it would work for:
  • Workshops with many people.
  • Quarterly's meetings with people all around the world.
  • If you want to create a digital training with lots of participants...
I feel like it's not as needed in videocalls that can be fixed with webex teams because of the number of participants or at events that need a more personal approach where you need everyone constantly interacting.

Pros
  • Customer service during planning phases- reps always get back to me to help answer my questions.
  • Event managers are always great to work with at our Gala. We really need someone to make sure the whole program runs well, and OneCause never disappoints.
  • Variety of events that we can use this for is awesome! No need for paypal, venmo, etc.
  • Mobile bidding has been a game changer for us. People can participate in our auction even if they cannot attend the event!
  • Platform is relatively easy to use- intuitive even for those who are not techy!

  • It has quite a few optional and customizable features that can be utilized.
  • It's easy to integrate your existing tools like Zoom, YouTube, Vimeo, and streaming services.
  • It's flexible in the way that you upload content in that you can enter things one at a time on the website, or use a spreadsheet to upload a larger amount of content.

Cons
  • Auto-numbering items in auctions need to be editable. Right now, when you add items, they are numbered consecutively, and you can't edit them. I want all of my items to be numbered together by item type. We always have last-minute additions, but there is no ability to renumber.

  • The standard template to build out the community is pretty rigid. We had to adjust some of our styling and graphics to account for what Socio's template allowed.
  • Inability for event admins to make account changes for users. Several times we had users change jobs, therefore, changing their emails. Each time, we had to go through Socio support to get them access to their account.
  • Documentation and knowledgebase could be more substantive.

We are a very small non-profit and are actually looking to use another service just to cut costs, but we may not stay with them and will coming running back to OneCause if we can't make the other option work! The ONLY reason to move would be to reduce the over-head cost of the platform.

Of course something could happen to our orgs ability to put on a conference or Socio could fundamentally change their product or their customer service - but barring any magor shift there is nothing that is even close to competing for our attention here.

Usability
Use of the software is generally fine, but the setup and implementation are not always intuitive. Though the knowledgebase is robust and covers a lot of areas (and the support team is pleasant and knowledgeable), the event setup process (particularly when setting up payment and bank information) can be a bit cumbersome and should really be streamlined

Some Android users could not get the app to work, so they had to use the web-based version of our conference guide. Most functionality was still there, but they could not pull up the QR code, which impeded the registration process. The presence of the log in with Apple ID button caused issues because most work emails were not attached to Apple ID, which caused access issues.

OneCause has the BEST customer support I have ever experienced. They are patient, and knowledgeable and always help me when I contact them. Whenever I have inquired how to use a feature or asked about how to do something, they give me the answer but also go above and beyond with additional info that I ended up also using.

Socio (now WebexEvents) is one of two products I use that gets customer service right. Not only can you get an answer from an actual person quickly during business hours - but if you are asking after hours, you know the response will be waiting for you in the morning. Not only are they fast, but they are also smart about their products and customers. There is very little back and forth trying to explain the problem I am having, or the new way I am trying to use their product, that may even be novel for them.

I don't know if my insights are key but I can say that implementation was done in-house without any outside support for the solution. The staff influencing the solution had very little technical expertise and ability as well which showed just how easily the software was to implement.

Return on Investment
  • As I stated earlier in my review, the donation feature that is automatically implemented when purchasing tickets ended up paying for the entire year's subscription! Amazing feature to add for our Non-profit donor base
  • Having all of the Supporters info saved within the system since we have the same supporters usually year after year! So nice to have

  • We had more sponsorship applications than usual due to using Webex and the multiple sponsorship capabilities.
  • We had more attendance than in previous years due to using Webex since it is so incredibly user-friendly.
  • We increased ROI by using Webex over other platforms due to pricing and features.
