Bamboo is used in my company for HR purposes, such as employee tracking and goal setting for mid-year and end-of-year reviews. We use this as a primary tool for running performance reviews, and it works quite well because everything is consolidated in one location, and the appropriate staff have access to it.

BambooHR® is a great took to centralize your HR needs

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

BambooHR® really simplifies and centralizes our hiring process all the way to our benefits process and everything in between. It helped us bring together several facets of the HR process into one platform and made onboarding, offboarding and payroll as simple as possible for us. It allowed our employees to become willing participants in these processees.

Pros

  • It allowed us to easily post job notifications much more efficiently.
  • Also made it much simpler for employees to manage their time off
  • It also helped us centralize several functions of HR into one place

Cons

  • There are some limitations in terms of large companies; it's not as scalable a system as one might want.
  • the payroll systems and features are a bit rudimentary

  • BambooHR® has allowed us to centralize the entire HR journey and cut down demand for manpower.

We use BambooHR® as our main system for storing employee and contractor data. It's the foundation of how we manage who has access to what across the company. BambooHR® connects directly to our identity provider, which controls group membership in our communication and infrastructure tools. Managers can update team and role assignments in BambooHR® themselves, which automatically handles access downstream without IT needing to step in for every request.
We also use it to manage our contractor lifecycle. Having a proper BambooHR® profile is a requirement before contractors can get access to high-risk systems, so it works as a compliance checkpoint too. Employee attributes like department, division, zone, and product team all live in BambooHR® and determine what people can access and which groups they're in.

  • Stability - when BambooHR® Goes down, it can send garbage data to our idp. This has caused incidents

We use BambooHR® as the primary internal directory for our 1,500+ employees. We can also use it to update personal information for HR's use (Address, Marital Status, etc.), we use it to track and submit time off requests, and it acts, in many ways, as the dashboard for [...]'s internal relations.

  • Not everyone keeps their direct reports' location information up to date - maybe prompt supervisors to check/revise this often?

As an HR Manager at Helpfood, we use BambooHR to address most of our HR issues, from onboarding new employees and managing their records to leave management and our day-to-day HR operations. BambooHR has helped streamline and make processes more efficient by addressing manual HR processes, reducing them, and enhancing employee data visibility. Our use case covers onboarding processes, employee database management, performance management, and leave tracking, and is usually used by our HR dept and, at times, supports the executive in decision-making.

Pros

  • Employee onboarding and workflow automation have been streamlined significantly since we started using BambooHR. It helps in paperwork automation, checklist approvals, and task assignment.
  • I can never say enough about centralized employee data management. This one, BambooHR, does it so seamlessly that there is no need to juggle several HR management solutions to visualize data.
  • We had an issue with performance management: we could not track how employees were performing, recognize the best performers, or identify ways to improve low performers. But BambooHR has helped with. We can now conduct reviews, track performance, and monitor KPIs.

Cons

  • The Applicant tracking system gets overwhelmed by large volumes of applications, therefore failing to conduct more in-depth screening and to match us with the perfect candidates.
  • At Helpyfood, we sometimes need very specific reports, such as a detailed workforce breakdown, and BambooHR cannot create them. Work on more in-depth reports and advanced analytics.
  • I feel BambooHR is a friendly platform, but when it comes to customizations and configurations, it gets a bit rigid. For example, tailoring approval flows for different departments.

Return on Investment

  • A major ROI has always been saving time, and we started using BambooHR because most of our HR operations were manual, and time wastage was a big issue. But now, with BambooHR, we have reduced the administrative workload by 30% to 40%, freeing more time for our personnel to be more productive.
  • Another ROI has been the slow onboarding process we experienced due to many manual steps. But with BambooHR, the process has been cut by half from 4 days to 2 days.
  • Decision-making in the HR department was a bit flawed because we lacked reliable data to act on. From performance management data, KPIs, and leave management. But with BambooHR, our decision-making has become much better and more accurate. This has reduced scheduling conflicts and improved workforce planning.
