Brandwatch, from Cision (acquired February 2021) is an enterprise social intelligence platform that is designed to allow brands to listen and analyze online conversation to extract meaningful insights, inform their business decisions and understand more about the return on their marketing spend.

We use Brandwatch to help capture Crisis, and keep track of the conversation. As well as see how people talk about our Brand, our LTO's, and our Campaigns.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Brandwatch for social listening insights - both for monitoring broad online conversation around certain topics or events, and for tracking brand mentions.

Pros

  • Comprehensive data set - a huge amount of information is being captured and condensed effectively
  • Multiple data visualisation options - really customisable dashboards
  • Shareable links - it's really handy being able to share Live dashboards with colleagues who don't have a Brandwatch account.

Cons

  • The overall UX can be a bit overcomplicated - it sometimes feels that there would be a cleaner way to do things
  • Integration with other social analysis platforms would be amazing if ever possible
  • The export feature can be a little hit and miss - it would be useful if it flagged which parts of a dashboard weren't going to be exported

  • Enhanced understanding of the social landscape for teams that don't work with it directly, leading to better collaboration.
  • Able to provide senior leadership with tangible, numerical data on how often our brand is appearing in the contexts we want (or don't want) leading to more trust in the value of our social media KPIs.

Brandwatch is certainly the most dynamic and well supported Social Insight platform available today

Pros

  • Highly programmable setup allows for deep categorisation of social and online conversation data.
  • Useful and clear UI that allows easy access to granular reporting.
  • Highly responsive and knowledge support and account management teams.
  • Company is clearly committed to evolving their platform for their clients as well as being responsive to their recommendations.

Cons

  • The UI sometimes struggles with larger categorisation sets but this can be worked around by exporting to Excel and creating your own graphs there.

  • Our business is hugely dependent on Brandwatch Analytics as it is our core technology and so the ROI is clear.
  • We have been able to work with the Brandwatch Analytics team to develop new solutions built on the platform and they have always provided excellent support.

Excellent for an omnichannel strategy - with a birds-eye view!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Falcon to schedule social content posts across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, etc., to support our business's omnichannel strategy. Which is ideal for supporting our marketing mix. Most recently, we have been experimenting with Linkedin carousels to make our content more stackable. Falcon plays a crucial role in making it efficient to deliver to the different channels.

  • It allows is to schedule in advance and reduce duplication of effort

  • The mobile view does lack features

Cons

  • I would like to have larger data downloads per day. Our unit is limited to 50K lines of data per day.
  • I would like to see a more comprehensive historical data pull
