Trend Micro Apex One is a versatile product used by various organizations to protect their systems and enhance productivity. With its reputation as the lightest antivirus in the market, it effectively addresses low-performance issues on desktop PCs, allowing users to work seamlessly without compromising system resources. The multi-layered nature of this software enables it to detect and remediate a wide range of malware issues, including those in active memory. This eliminates the need for multiple security products, providing convenience and peace of mind for users.

One of the key use cases for Trend Micro Apex One is securing all end-user systems, ranging from desktops and laptops to mobile devices and servers. Its centralized control through a management console empowers users to manage untrusted applications and protect against unauthorized de-installation or deactivation. This feature ensures that company-issued devices remain secure and under control, mitigating potential risks.

Not only does Trend Micro Apex One offer comprehensive protection, but it also provides valuable insights through regular reports on threat activity. This functionality allows organizations to stay informed about potential risks and take appropriate measures to safeguard their systems. Additionally, the product's affordability and user-friendly management interface make it an excellent choice for IT Technical Leads in medium-sized companies.

By utilizing Trend Micro Apex One, businesses can effectively protect their entire organization from virus/malware threats, including potential ransomware attacks. The product's Behavior Monitoring feature acts as a safeguard for the network by detecting and neutralizing suspicious activities promptly.

Moreover, Trend Micro Apex One's effectiveness in catching viruses has been praised by users who have switched from other solutions. It has proven to be a reliable tool for securing machines and ensuring software remains up to date. Notably, its smart agent scan further enhances its capability to neutralize threats efficiently.

This product has found extensive use across organizations as an endpoint protection solution, replacing previous antivirus solutions such as McAfee. It effectively addresses security concerns both internally and at remote locations, reducing operational management time and providing a sense of security. Moreover, the ability to integrate with third-party systems has been highly regarded by users, adding to the product's value.

Overall, Trend Micro Apex One is trusted by users globally as it offers comprehensive protection against viruses, malware, trojans, and more. Centralized Console: Many users have praised the centralized console of Trend Micro, stating that it allows for easy updates on all computers within the network. This feature is particularly useful for users who are not in the same network as the console, as they can still receive updates directly from the Trend Micro server.

Light Performance Consumption: Several reviewers have appreciated the light performance consumption of Trend Micro's product. They have noted that it does not eat up computer resources like other vendors' software, allowing them to work efficiently without any disruptions.

Comprehensive Security Suite: Users have expressed their satisfaction with the comprehensive security suite offered by Trend Micro. They appreciate that it provides peace of mind by offering protection against various threats such as viruses and malware.

Version Update Issues: Some users have experienced issues with version updates, especially when updating from the centralized console to the agent version from the main Trend Micro server. This has affected certain applications on their computers, particularly if there are additional VPN software agents installed.

Web Filtering Integration: The web filtering feature, specifically URL filtering, needs to be integrated with the firewall, especially for open-source firewalls like Linux-based ones. Currently, users have to manually add machines using their private IP addresses in the console to stop access to specific URLs or sites, which is time-consuming.

Lack of Detail in Reporting: The reporting aspect of the software is lacking in terms of detail. While the basic reporting is good, it could provide more information according to some users.

Users commonly recommend the following actions for users of Trend Micro software:

Implement Trend Micro Saas or Cloud version for regular updates and support. This version is easy to implement and manage, making it a convenient choice for many users.

Seek assistance from professional services to ensure an easier migration and better understanding of the setup and features. Users highlight the expertise of support engineers and engaging account managers in resolving any issues that may arise.

Keep systems up to date by regularly applying operating system and security updates. This proactive measure ensures that devices remain protected against potential threats and vulnerabilities.

They appreciate the stability of the software, its ease of administration, and the value it provides for money spent. Additionally, users recommend considering compatibility with clients and servers when choosing a security solution, highlighting the importance of securing each endpoint of the network.

We are using software as a global antivirus in all systemnacross the site.
Also it is installed in major equipment software.
Product has addressed problems by cont. providing update to quarantine the bugs and kept away the systems. Real-time and scheduled scan is one of the best feature and reasons to cont. with software. Also scope is to integrate with third party systems.

  • Real-time and scheduled scanning.
  • Third party software supports and recommend Trendmicro
  • Best online support
  • Client somentime found it offline during working.
  • If anyhow it is offline client can't make it online.
  • Some major third party company not agreed with policy
Software is always updated and add-on are available. Also now a days operators has widely used so getting hands on not an issue. Immediate scanning when external device connected and detected.

Client has no any control as more admin has on the software. This to be improved. Other wise it is one other best..

We have reduced the operational management time and we could also outsource some of the service support to Trend Micro. Trend Micro helps our business to be protected by making sure no malicious activity is happening. We have solved the issue of upgrading and maintaining Apex One and Apex Central by moving to SaaS.
  • Realtime scanning.
  • Managed from cloud.
  • Restricting URL's based on web reputation.
  • New feature requires updating agents on client system.
  • The dashboard could be redesigned.
  • The SaaS interface is a bit slow.
The vulnerability protection features gives the time to test the security patches before deployment while keeping the endpoint safe. The ability to manage all policies from apex central on SAAS adds to ease of use. System has very fine-grained control over agents and allows for extensive tweaking to accommodate for older in-house apps.

We use Apex One to protect our entire organization from virus/malware threats including potential ransomware attacks. We use it on both our business network along our automation network which is essential for revenue generation. We originally started with OfficeScan and have since upgraded to Apex One when it was released and the product has continued to evolve and grow with the ever-changing threat landscape. We rely heavily on the Behavior Monitoring portion of Apex One to keep our network safe from ransomware. Although it does create some false positives we can easily add the necessary exceptions (as needed) to keep our network safe. But in my mind, I would rather be safe than sorry. We also use the virus/malware scanner and integrated firewall inside of ApexOne and we notice little drain of system resources from the product. However, we do schedule system scans during the overnight hours to help offset any performance issues that may be seen on older computers but that can also be configured to pause scanning if CPU utilization exceeds 50%. Overall we have been very happy with Apex One and would highly recommend it.
  • Advanced threat protection including ransomware
  • Continuously updating product
  • Centralized endpoint management and deployment
  • Sleep well at night with piece of mind that my network is protected
  • More integrated reporting and alerts into the Apex One console without needing Central Server.
Apex One has been the best AV product that I have used to date. It is easy to deploy and manage and is a complete package to keep our endpoints and network protected from the ever-evolving advanced threats. We strive to keep our network safe while limiting the impact on our users and this product has done that for us.

We use Trend Micro Apex One (formerly OfficeScan) across the whole organization. We started off with Deep security years ago and moved/upgraded to OfficeScan and up to Trend Micro Apex One. It is great for catching spyware and viruses. I feel it does a great job and gives me peace of mind. At the end of the day, our machines are covered from attacks.
  • It does not eat up computer resources like other vendors do
  • Upgrades and patching seem to go well and are easy to apply
  • Software coverage is outstanding; peace of mind at the end of the day
  • Only thing I would have to say that's negative is the reporting aspect. Basic reporting is good but still lacks some details. This is a problem with many of the software vendors I have encountered in the past as well. Reporting is still much better than most.
Trend Micro Apex One (formerly OfficeScan) is very easy to manage and has many great features right out of the box. It is easy to set up, manage, and customize to your business or environment. Don't just take my word for it; give it a shot for yourself and see if it fits in your situation.

Trend micro endpoint security is being used on all endpoints in our company, We use it for anitivirus,anti-malware, and even email spam protection on our exchange servers. It prevents outbreaks as soon as a rule is triggered. We rely on Tm everyday to keep our company free of viruses that could potentially cause system downtime.
  • Protects against viruses
  • Protects User data
  • Protects email servers from spam and other harmful emails.
  • Tech support could be a little more customer friendly
  • More detailed report from users logs
  • Officescan is spotty sometimes will not reflect when users get stuff blocked
TM Endpoint Security is especially well suited for exchange spam control and antivirus to keep company data safe from viruses and mailware being sent with an email item. It has done the job well for the last 3 years we do not plan on moving away from it anytime soon.

Officescan is being used on 9000 + workstations and on some of our servers as well. We are currently in the process of migrating to Apex One from OfficeScan. OfficeScan is being used throughout the organization in all our remote offices and on our main campus. It is much more effective then Symantec Endpoint Protection was at catching viruses.
  • We were able to stand up an apex one server and migrate all of our settings from the current officescan server without any issues
  • The upgrades for apex one actually work without an issue, as compared to how they would constantly fail in officescan
  • The console is very similar so there was no learning curve
  • The method of upgrading the software from older versions to newer versions is much easier and no longer forces all the systems to reboot, it now gives an option for the end user to choose when to reboot
  • OfficeScan has a fault, if you use the msi to install it on you clients then you have to use the same name for the msi the next time you push the msi to upgrade the clients to latest version. This was supposedly fixed in apex one
  • OfficeScan forces the clients to reboot immediately when you enable upgrading of the agent through console, this is so far fixed in apex one
  • Enabling the firewall is confusing and the instructions on the website don't match up with how your supposed to enable it.
  • It seems to constantly need updates every few months, due to vulnerabilities or issues being found with the client
Before Trend Micro OfficeScan we used Symantec Endpoint Protection and although it was very easy to deploy and to update agents it couldn't find a virus if you pointed it out with a neon sign. We were always getting hit with different viruses but since we migrated to Trend we no longer have that problem. Trend has definitely been preventing those kind of outbreaks successfully.

We use Trend Micro Apex One Endpoint Security across our whole organization, providing malware protection for our desktops, laptops, mobile devices and servers. What's great about this product is it is a multi-layered product that is designed to detect and remedy a range of malware issues, including those in active memory. Because of this, I no longer have to deploy multiple products to protect one system--Apex One is a complete security solution, even providing disk encryption should I need it. Now I don't have to monitor multiple dashboards to review threat activity on my systems nor push multiple products to endpoints, but I can do this all from a single console and dashboard.
  • Centralized management: control all your users and see threat activity throughout your environment
  • Comprehensive security suite: I have been using Trend Micro products for nearly two decades and this is their most feature-packed security product ever
  • Minimal user impact: security solutions shouldn't disrupt work or annoy the user, just do their job in the background and only become apparent when warranted. Apex One accomplishes this beautifully.
  • Easy to use: it's an easy (and free) upgrade from OfficeScan, and even easier to deploy and use.
  • Inexpensive. Pricing is very competitive for what you get.
  • There has really not been anything about this product I haven't liked, believe it or not.
It's probably overkill for a really small office and it does take some skill to understand how to deploy and manage the product, so it's probably best implemented and managed by a consultant (if you have no on-premises IT) or an IT professional. Medium to large organizations will love this product and benefit most from the integration of solutions into a single product and the centralized management.

Preface:
QualTech used to use an older on-premise version of Trend Micro security, and upon the time when we would have to renew licenses, we decided to take a look at what our other options are in using Cloud software, since we were in the process of moving to a completely cloud-based infrastructure.
Use:
Trend Micro Apex One is used company wide on all computers within the company domain, including laptops that are taken home by employees.
Apex One provides not just an excellent way to secure machines from potentially malicious software, but it also provides a quick snapshot of the PC health of everything on our network. Updates, patches, and driver issues will be identified. Not to mention, the policy creation and rollout to endpoints is very easy, and acts as a second layer before the already installed firewall on the network.
  • End point implementation: the roll-out of Trend Micro was extremely easy!
  • Server/Device policies: creating both endpoint and server device policies is something we were looking for in a system, since we have a variety of both endpoints with users, as well as several unattended servers needing specific limitations.
  • License Management: removing Trend Micro from machines before destruction or retirement is done in a pinch. There's no struggling to free up an unused license
  • Threat Removal: we've encountered several times when Trend Micro will point out some kind of threat, but lacks the ability to handle the removal itself, and typically still requires some kind of manual intervention.
  • It's small, but I do wish you could rename the endpoint agent names after they're assigned in the system.
  • Greater view and visibility into some of the standard reports offered would be nice.
Trend Micro is perfect for organizations who function well with cloud-hosted solutions and are looking for a new endpoint security client that's easy to implement and provides highly reliable security. Organizations with just 10 or 100 computers would benefit from Trend Micro.
Any company also on a budget will love Trend Micro, as the pricing is flexible and rather cheap for how much you're getting. If you love a good value then it's perfect!

Trend Micro is being used across the board at our company as a safety and security application.
  • Scans for viruses
  • Finds Trojans
  • Finds potential threats and quarantines them
  • Complete removal of the trojans and viruses
  • Assisting with older models of computers
  • Customer service
Trend Micro is well suited for companies with less active computer usage - it does well on a small scale version of a virus scanner but can be subpar when faced with more intelligent viruses.

We currently use Trend Micro company-wide to 'protect' all our end user systems. I use the management console to verify that clients are staying up to date with signatures and also stay live and connected. I also have used Trend for Mobile on a few phones. My file and DC are also 'protected' by Trend AV as well. I run weekly scans of the all network end points. I also get a weekly report from Trend Micro on any activity sent to my email.
  • Easy to install - via script or just manual install
  • Run with little intervention once installed
  • Seems to stick to its scheduled runs pretty well
  • Sucks at detecting virus - I've had a number of viruses in the last year and Trend Micro has discovered exactly zero. I have a FortiGate firewall with AV and it has caught all of my users' viruses.
  • Reporting is garbage - I understand if there were no incidents for the week, but when your report just says N/A for every category that does tell me anything.
  • Their dashboard, while well designed, provides no more information than their weekly reports. When I log in and see 'X' number of incidents, check the log and find zero listed - I don't know what that is telling [me].
  • Alerting - almost non-existent. In the 1 year, I've had it in my office, it has not once told me when a user has a virus. It does however FREQUENTLY tell me that a client has disconnected - 90% of the time it's because the user has not turned on their laptop in 2 days.
If zero was an option I would choose it - I would recommend any product over this one. With my experience, I have no idea how Trend Micro has ranked so highly on any report.

We are using Trend Micro OfficeScan to protect all client and server endpoints, inside and outside of our network. I have found the performance to be about average in terms of resources used and it seems to be effective at detecting viruses and malware and preventing spread of infection. We use it for Windows and Mac.
  • The UI for administration and setup is much better in version 11 than in previous versions, as it is more material in design and the dashboard is more customizable and clearly laid out.
  • Deployment of the client is relatively easy and is offered in a few different methods, depending on your needs. UNC\E-mail\Web and offline installers.
  • Detection seems to be good, as I haven't had any outbreaks in the 5 years I have been using the product. This includes previous versions.
  • The licensing of the product is overly-complex because they have so many product variations.
  • The offline installer creation needs to be much simpler.
  • Performance could use some improvement. I have found that some programs install just fine while Trend Micro OfficeScan is running and others require me to offload it, in order to install. The main indicator of this is extremely slow progress.
  • Management of remote clients needs improvement. They must connect to the network where the OfficeScan server is located to be updated with policy information but do update from Trend Micro's servers for virus definitions and heuristics information.
  • Documentation is sometimes confusing and gets mixed up with another product, which is for specifically for small business and I am never sure if it is accurate and applies to my product.
If you want something that you can manage with little administration overhead once setup, this seems to be pretty good. The detection rate is good (according to people who test AV). Since version 11 has been a decent overhaul, I don't think I will look at competitors this year when my renewal comes up.
