Overall Satisfaction with 8x8 Work

I have been personally using 8x8 Work for my business for 3 to 4 years now. I have found 8x8 Work to be extremely stable, easy to use yet as powerful as I need it to be. The product stack across platforms is very consistent; the desktop app augments the desk phone nicely, while the mobile app and web app have a consistent feel and all the features. Everyone claims their auto-attendant is easy to use, but in my experience with many other VoIP providers, 8x8 Work really is the easiest. It's also really appreciated that they do not nickel-and-dime you for each and every feature and add-on. The platform is completely usable and functional even at the base level. They use an easy-to-understand system of licenses, each with an increasing level of functionality, and clear delineation between UCaaS and CCaaS. That's it. For myself, the most important features are actually the simple ones: auto attendant, ring group, voicemail to email, vm transcription, text messaging. The system is agile and flexible, letting me work at my desk and on the go with equal effectiveness.

Pros

  • Auto-Attendant is super easy to understand and make changes to.
  • The admin portal is well organized and laid out. It feels logical.
  • The cross-platform consistency is fantastic, and it's clearly in active development (read not forgotten).

Cons

  • The auto attendant has built in text-to-speech, but this same engine should be put to use for individual and ring group voicemail messages.
  • Call forwarding in the mobile app should be relocated for easier access. Instead it's buried somewhere under the generic "account settings"
  • The default user template disables voicemail text transcription. Why???
  • One fax number should be accessible by app for more than 1 user. Responsibility for faxes is usually distributed among a few people in a typical small office setting.
  • Ability to receive and send SMS messages from a shared "main company number" would be awesome. Ability to assign this to certain users would rock!
  • I have no hard numbers, but voicemail to email and the consistency of the mobile app make my business more flexible so I do more business (like when I'm on the go)
Usability is a 9. Why? because of those "Improvements" I've previously noted. Those are small and probably easy to implement, but would rocket this up to that hard-to reach (but easy to reach) perfection of 10.
8x8 Work is easier and much more organized both from a user and an admin perspective, and more cost-effective from a business owner standpoint.
