Overall Satisfaction with ActiveCampaign
I started with ActiveCampaign a year and a half ago. I switched from MailChimp. I needed a platform that would help me segment my contacts automatically and improve my sales and customer experience. I also needed a higher level of support than what I was getting from MailChimp. I have been able to build complicated automation sequences, with their help, which has drastically increased my customer engagement and experience. I use ActiveCampaign every single day, and their customer support is stellar.
- Their customer support is stellar. For example, I accidentally deleted contacts out of one of my sequences. Their chat support made me a video to reenter them into the sequence. It took only minutes.
- They have hundreds of existing automation "recipes". I was able to get my on-boarding and sales funnels in place within a couple of days of joining ActiveCampaign using their recipes.
- ActiveCampaign has a help library that deals with many of its specific functions. They keep the pages up-to-date.
- You can schedule one-on-one calls with their experts anytime you need them. This has allowed me to build an amazing customer experience.
- They integrate with many of my other software platforms such as VideoAsk and MemberPress.
- I find their design tools a bit clunky.
- They don't have chat support on the weekends.
- I have had a few instances where my open tickets haven't been responded to in a timely manner.
- It has improved my sales funnels.
- It has improved my customer experience.
- My list is growing. Their customer service team has helped me with my lead magnets.
- Mailchimp Transactional Email (mandrill)
I was with MailChimp for years. When I was simply sending out a newsletter, it was fine. But, when I wanted to automate segmenting my list, it fell short. I also couldn't integrate it with my website to deepen my customer experience. ActiveCampaign allows me to do those things and much, much more.

Evaluating ActiveCampaign and Competitors
Yes - I was using MailChimp. I felt that it didn't have the list management capabilities I needed to grow my business. I also felt that their customer support was insufficient. If I had an issue that was beyond chat support, they would open a ticket, but their response time was slow and sometimes they wouldn't respond at all.
- Product Features
I identified my needs and looked at several other platforms. On the recommendation of a business group that I associate with, I did an ActiveCampaign demo with a rep and a trial period. I had to extend the trial period, which they happily did, and signed up. I have been VERY happy!
I actually don't think I would change anything. I looked at and talked with other platforms. I had experience with MailChimp and identified its shortcomings. Because of that experience, and my conversations with other platforms and businesses like mine, I determined the platform would be the right decision - and it was.
ActiveCampaign Support
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Quick Resolution Good followup Knowledgeable team Problems get solved Kept well informed No escalation required Immediate help available Support understands my problem Support cares about my success Quick Initial Response | None |
My level comes with more support than the basic account, and for the most part, it has been excellent. I don't feel the need to purchase more help. If I go to the next level in the ActiveCampaign product, I will get more support built into that level for my new needs.
I actually have several times when this has happened. But I'll cite the most recent one. I wanted to build a form that would allow people mailing list choices to manage their email preferences. It needed to be done in the footer, but I couldn't get the options to connect to the lists. Most of what I did to build it out was wrong. The rep I contacted set up several personal Zoom calls to work through the issue, and I now have exactly what I wanted. The form has drastically cut down my "unsubscribe" rate.
