Overall Satisfaction with ClickUp

We use ClickUp in our engineering team. We have a backlog, sizing bucket, and sprints. This helps us stay organized and plan all the upcoming work. Every ticket starts in the backlog. From there, we estimate the size of the ticket and how long it will take. This moves it into the sizing bucket. Once it’s been estimated, we can then move it into a sprint. Our sprints are 2 weeks long. Having tickets in sprints means we can also set expectations for clients and management on the work that will be completed and when it will be done.

  • ClickUp has made meetings so much faster. It automatically creates a meeting notes document for me each week with everything we need to go through.
  • We’re able to easily work with a team in India. Having a clear SOP written in a ClickUp doc makes sure everyone is on the same page with the workflow.
  • Management can now be given quick updates by sharing a listing URL with them. No need for a meeting anymore.
Management projects have become a lot easier between all departments at the company. When a new project comes in, we can use a template that raises all the tickets for us straight away. Not only that but everyone is automatically assigned their tasks so there’s no confusion about who should be doing which bit of work. As well to new projects, weekly meetings have been made better with templates too. There is a clear agenda set for every meeting to keep us all on track.
Pushing code to GitHub and GitLab has both been simplified with ClickUp. Just by putting the task ID on a GitHub push, it automatically syncs the update to the ClickUp ticket. This means it’s easy for anybody to see what changes have gone live and when. The ticket status can also be updated this way too. We’ve replaced smart sheets with ClickUp Gantt charts. Perfect for project planning. Keeping everything in one app is brilliant for searching for information in the future. “When did we start that client project?” Easy to find in ClickUp using their advanced search.
ClickUp stacks up well against all of these other softwares. The notion is built for documents and single-person task management. ClickUp takes a task and project management first approach. It then expands on this and makes it useable in a team. Pivotal Tracker felt dated and lacked functionality. Jira was far too complicated in the admin area and produced a lot of extra work. The thing that ClickUp does well is makes administration easy across an entire company. Once it’s set up, it’s also easy for employees to use. One issue we had with Notion was it was too easy to break. ClickUp has permissions to stop people from breaking workflows.

If you’re in a sales team, marketing team, engineering, or any sort of team where you need to plan work, ClickUp is the app that will help. It’s especially well suited for IT departments that work with sprints. One brilliant feature is the ability to share a list of tasks publicly. You can easily share this with a client so they can keep track of a project you might be working on for them. Templates help across all departments in a company. You can have an onboarding template for new starters, a meeting notes template for that weekly meeting you’re always made to go to or even a ticket template for repetitive tasks that need creating. Where ClickUp falls down a little bit is its documents. They’re great to write in but there’s no good way to organize them (yet). I’m hoping soon we’ll be able to add custom fields to a document like you do a task. That way you could filter documents in a database and have everything easy to find.

ClickUp Support

Support are genuinely helpful and really nice to deal with. I had a bug on my workspace that I’d been experiencing for a while. They looked into it for me and asked some questions. Once they found the issue and resolved it, they even filmed a video detailing how they’d fixed it. That level of support is fantastic.
Support comes with the business plan so it was included in the price.
Yes - It took quite a long time for my bug report to get resolved but I put that down to it being a very niche bug that was hard to pin down. Once the issue was found, it was resolved incredibly fast.
The onboarding process was some of the best I’ve experienced. A half hour call with a ClickUp expert. They gave advice specific to our use case such as teaching us how to use sprints and how to setup a backlog. That single half an hour call saved us hours of guess work when building the workspace.
