Overall Satisfaction with ClickUp

In the Cybersecurity org I manage a portfolio of work including individual projects, programs as well as org roadmap planning. Additionally, I am the ClickUp SME for Cyber and I work with teams to customize CU based on specific needs and use cases.

Pros

  • Customizing task hierarchy and rollup
  • Adding tasks to multiple lists
  • Field customization

Cons

  • Dashboards have a learning curve and are limited given the wide range of content possible in a list
  • Publishing and viewing dashboards like in Power BI
  • Much more informational documentation is needed for building formulas using the custom formula field.
  • Work management organization has seen tremendous maturity
  • Org work rollup is now possible
  • Tracking planned/scheduled work alongside disruptive, one-off tasks is now possible
Cross-functional team collaboration is dependant upon company culture, regardless of which tool is used. However, ClickUp is a fantastic tool for supporting a collaborative culture.
Since adopting ClickUp our teams have slowly migrated away from Google docs for documentation and in fact documentation has improved significantly.
Additionally, we use integrations with Slack and email extensively to streamline workflow processes.
Jira was more expensive, but ClickUp competed directly with core functionality. However, in comparing them side by side, Jira felt to be more "mature." Meaning, Atlassian seems to know and anticipate use cases more thoroughly that ClickUp.

ClickUp will excel in virtually any setting where formal work management is required when the work is more technical in nature. Non-technical work, such as construction, the adoption rate would be slower, but in the right hands it would still be suited.

CRM or help desk use cases are possible with field customization, but building this custom functionality isn't easy.
