Overall Satisfaction with Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare for DNS & CDN which are a powerful combination with headers provided from the web server
  • Content Delivery Network caching
  • API connectivity for manual cache clearing of individual items
  • API rate limiting
  • DNS is second-to-none
  • Domain name registration
  • Domain name registration / renewal is a little clunky UX
  • CDN cache persistence and distribution could last significantly longer
  • Convenient to have many services wrapped up in one package (DNS, CDN, domain registration, API gateway, workers / pages)
  • Improved uptime
  • Integrated server monitoring has helped on rare occasions of outages
  • Decreased CDN costs
  • DNS management is great, especially compared to registrars or AWS
  • Simple and consistent UX across the product suite.
  • DNS + CDN layer complete with SSL is amazing
  • Security layer built in
  • Cloudflare Pages is amazing for static sites, yet to use it for dynamic but plan to.
  • Business pricing is effectively fixed at $20 (+ some fixed price add-ons) - predictability is nice for budgeting
Takes 15 minutes to get your domain and DNS transferred, largely thanks to scanning DNS records for you (minor changes might be needed).

Are you happy with Cloudflare's feature set?

Yes

Did Cloudflare live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cloudflare go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cloudflare again?

Yes

With PAAS exposing databases direct to users by default, adding an API gateway is an important path to a more secure and scalable system. Cloudflare can provide this without significant development overheads.
