Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is being used by our entire organization as part of an Office 365 subscription. It provides a central communication hub for instant messaging, video conference calls, and discussion threads relating to specific project teams. We also use it for sharing files by integrating with SharePoint. This moves a lot of conversations out of email and into a central place in the context of a project.
Pros
- Great for conversation threads relating to a project. This allows team members to see everything that is going on and get caught up quickly.
- Integrates well with SharePoint and OneNote. It provides an easy jumping off point to access important files and notes relating to a project.
- Video conference calls work well and are easy to manage.
Cons
- When everyone is using Teams, it becomes hard to keep track of important messages. There is no good way to save, sort, or categorize messages.
- Notifications on messages are inconsistent and overwhelming.
- Teams and channels can get buried pretty quickly.
- Great for centralizing content, files, and communication.
- Easy replacement for conference lines.
- Can lead to task saturation and missed communications.
- Chat can't break out of the tool and it can be difficult to bounce around between features.
Teams offers a one stop shop for project related work (files, notes, communications, etc.).
