Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro as a documentary production team to organize all aspects of post-production, particularly story construction. It's an elegant and simple way to visualize narrative development over time. In essence, it's the best approximation of using notecards for a remote workflow, with the advantages of being editable, reproducible, connected to, and commented on.

Pros

  • visual appeal
  • organization
  • helpful templates
  • completely customizable

Cons

  • The default thumbnails all look like 90s clip art (but the option to create your own is great).
  • The hovering names of board contributors being either on or off all the time is frustrating. I'd like to see an option where the name pops up when the arrow is moving and disappears when it's still.
  • Some of my guest contributors have trouble navigating - is there a cheat-sheet for users that are only viewing rather than going through all the orientation modules for creators? (It's generally intuitive for younger users, but not for older ones.)
  • Clarifying how additional users work - i.e. team members vs. guest contributors vs. viewers. It seems that sometimes when I share links to the boards it offers certain permissions and sometimes not. I know it's possible to set these but none of this is super clear.
  • improved productivity
  • better ability to work remotely
  • great visual reference
Real-time collaboration has been super helpful. Instead of waiting for everyone's individual inputs, we can all chime in simultaneously and expedite the process.
No other option we looked into had the flexibility of Miro.

Well suited for quick visual organizing.
Well suited for sorting and communicating thoughts and processes.
Well suited for remote group work.
Well suited for teams.

The only thing that Miro seems less suited for are tables requiring calculations, i.e. things that need the more robust processing power of Excel or Sheets.
