Overall Satisfaction with Miro
We usually use Miro for: - quick remote collaborative sessions - remote or hybrid Workshops - Benchmarks / desk research - Foundational analysis setup It's mostly for "quick and dirty stuff" like we used to do on foamcore with postits and sharpie. The we usually switch to other platforms for condensing results.
Pros
- seamless notetaking
- Managing big boards with lots of contents and images
- low learning curve for people new to the tool
Cons
- flexibility in the design of boards / postits
- lack of personalization
- limited free boards to start with for external contributors who want to start using the tool
- reduced the amount of postits used
- reduced the need of a physical space in the office to create project boards
- reduced the need to be in the same space and be in the office to collaborate
- Increased the safety for all project contents present on physical boards, which are password protected now.
- Negative: I personally miss physical interaction with team and boards around the project space. I dream about a project space where walls can quickly switch into non invasive display (e-ink like) where people can interact with Miro boards in a more tangible fashion.
We started using Miro more heavily during the pandemic. In a few words: it made remote collaboration possible, it was form e the go to tool for collaborative and cocreation session and for sketching and organising design ideas and concept with the team. It made better communication with clients and external stakeholders possible. And now, even though we can go back in a physical office, it stays. Most of teams prefer it, and won't go back to paper postits and physical boards, if not for personal notes.
Mural is also a great tool, but less adopted by the mass, so Miro naturally is the first option to collaborate within and outside the organization.
FigJam is great: - If your organization provides you just with Figma Suite - if you often have to migrate contents from Miro to Figma
But in General Miro is more intuitive, immediate and quick. This is what you need when taking notes: seamless actions, almost invisible now that I am a fluent user.
