Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
Paylocity is used for Human Resources onboarding, benefits administration as well as payroll. We utilize the performance review features, learning is tracked as well as assignment of courses, time & labor, benefits, as well as HR & Payroll. As a rapidly growing company, this software has helped with growth while easily maintaining personnel files. The Recruiting and Onboarding tool is a fantastic time saver.
Pros
- Payroll processing procedure and necessary corrections are easy to follow and happen in a timely manner.
- Organizes Personnel records while allowing managers the ability to add journals to files.
- Recruiting and onboarding saves time while tracking the processes of each candidate.
- Maintain Benefits records, allowing demographics updates along with enrollments and terminations.
- Supplies reporting to balance monthly benefits invoicing.
- Includes a report writer that is easy to use.
Cons
- One onboarding step pertaining to W-4, tax withholding forms requires a review of the form with the SUBMIT/FINISH option above the form that is being viewed, causing the NEXT STEP option to be selected without SUBMIT or FINISH, causing an incomplete onboarding process. If the SUBMIT/FINISH option was at the end, or a warning given before allowing NEXT STEP to be selected, it would be very helpful.
- During training, having the company being trained to review Knowledge base or training allows very basic information to be retained. It is only helpful if you require the information at that time, otherwise, you will end up back "retraining" yourself when it is time. I believe a bit more of actual training, instead of "please watch these lessons" would be easier to retain the information.
- Reduced time processing time cards in a Customer Set instead of individual companies.
- Stronger processes to complete payroll.
- Quick reporting with a large selection of reports.
- Report writer option allowing HR information to be combined with Payroll and Time Card data
Paylocity has helped to automate our hiring process as well as onboarding. The system has streamlined the process and created an easy tracking of all candidates and hires.
The community section helps to communicate with all employees or select employees as necessary. The staff has appreciated being able to be immediately updated on the various notices, surveys, and posts that we have shared.
The sales staff was very informative, listened to our needs, and presented us with this information without being pushy. Other companies seemed to be more interested in selling while losing track of our requirements. Our sales person was extremely informative and brought very knowledgeable people into the calls while addressing every request that we made.

Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors
Yes - We were using PayData (now known as Asure). It was a very manual system that worked well when the company was under 50 employees.
- Cloud Solutions
- Ease of Use
- Other
The pricing was ultimately comparable to what we were paying with a much more manual system.
I wouldn't change my selection process.
Paylocity Implementation
- Implemented in-house
- It was not hands on which made it difficult to learn
- Left to my own devices when it came to the first live payroll, but worked without issue.
- The implementation team was not fully aware of answers but would get back to me with answers as soon as possible.
Paylocity Training
- Online Training
- No Training
Moderately easy until specific issues surfaced. Each customer has their own needs and not having sample type training left us with questions in between scheduled follow-up time. Had there been a training that put a couple of payroll situations into "example" testing it might have been less stressful to run our first few payrolls on our own.
Configuring Paylocity
Outline what would make your life easier when starting implementation. If we had done this I would have had a checklist that might have made some minor issues, nonexistent. The issues that we had were not anything major, just time consuming.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface - It is an easy process, once you know what you are looking for and find it.
No - we have not done any custom code
Nothing that I can think of at this time.
Paylocity Support

|---|---|
Quick Resolution Good followup Knowledgeable team Problems get solved Kept well informed Immediate help available Support cares about my success Quick Initial Response | None |
We have premium support with the services that we pay for.
Assistance with open enrollment is top notch! The benefit team has always been helpful. The process is only once a year which leaves me with questions of the set up process, or perhaps just uncertainty, but the benefit team has always been top notch.

Relationship with Paylocity
We were offered a nice discount because we were referred to Paylocity by our benefit agency. Paylocity seems to have competitive pricing and this discount helps.
Prepare to add as many features as you can afford. The ROI with time freed up, as well as the reporting options, is well worth it.
