Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

Paylocity is our main HRIS system that we utilize. We use Time & Attendance as our timeclock function and HR & Payroll for employee profiles and all payroll functions.

Pros

  • Time & Attendance works very well with our Paylocity issued time clock
  • The new payroll is much more efficient than is the older version.

Cons

  • Paylocity needs to do a better job of communicating changes - even little things like changing from decimals in the timesheet to hrs/minutes
  • Paylocity needs to have a better way to view demos for new and current customers to see how a certain module would work so we can decide if it would work for us
  • It would be nice if as a customer, we didn't get different answers to the same question from people on our customer service team. Or have to call in several times because we know something can be done, but customer service reps either don't want to be bothered or don't know how to find an answer.
  • Reduced time in tracking time & attendance
  • reduced errors in payroll
We don't use all that many modules in Paylocity yet, but what we do use allows me to move through my daily activities more efficiently
We do not use that part of Paylocity yet.
Paylocity is fairly easy to use, but there are some issues when changes are made and not communicated properly to end users. Reporting is not as robust and straightforwad as one would like.
When we evaluated all of these systems, we felt Paylocity could offer more for the price.

Do you think Paylocity delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Paylocity's feature set?

Yes

Did Paylocity live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Paylocity go as expected?

No

Would you buy Paylocity again?

Yes

Paylocity does a good job with time & attendance, but is lacking in a holistic HRIS system. There needs to be easier ways to save data into an employee's profile. Also, the Tax Setup needs to be easier to use.

Using Paylocity

70 - HR, Management and Accounting. All employees use the Paylocity App to access their paystubs.
1 - Only our HR supports Paylocity and any changes necessary. Basic computer skills are needed.
  • Payroll
  • Work History
  • Time & Attendance
  • Benefit Tracking
  • Benefit Tracking
  • Onboarding
  • Recruiting
Paylocity is easy to use, but honestly, the thought of a new implementation with a different company makes us not want to change.

Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors

  • Ease of Use
We needed something that was easy to use for all employees since we had never used an HRIS before.
Now that we've had an HRIS, we know what modules we would actually use and would look further into those matching with the policies and procedures that our company had and how they could be implemented in the HRIS

Paylocity Implementation

More robust training would be apprecited.
Change management was minimal
  • Communication from Paylocity on what was needed
  • Training on each module was almost non-existant, Paylocity relies on their "Knowledge Base" articles for end users to self-teach.

Paylocity Training

  • Online Training
  • No Training
The "online training" I received was really just articles and videos that were sent to me. I did not get much time with a live person for training.
Some parts are very straightforward and easy to use without training. Others are not.

Configuring Paylocity

It seems that it would be able to be configured easily, but there are some limitations that I wish I knew when evaluating.
Keep on top of your implementation team.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
No - we have not done any custom code

Paylocity Support

While most of the support staff have been nice to work with, it seems that it is hit or miss whether they can help with all situations. When I am not able to get a solution to my problem, I may have to call 2-3 times to get someone that really knows the answer. Many times, I am just given an article to read to help my situation and that doesn't always solve the problem. Better training from the start on all functions of Paylocity would go a long way.
I'm not sure this is available and even if it was, I would have to be assured that the support personnel were more highly trained and able to help with every facet of Paylocity.
I can't think of a specific instance, but there are some support personnel that will walk me through each step that's necessary instead of just sending me an article to read. That help goes a long way. I wish I was able to get in touch with those specific people every time.

Using Paylocity

ProsCons
Like to use
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Technical support not required
Consistent
Quick to learn
Convenient
Feel confident using
None
  • Time & Attendance
  • Updating Employee Wages
  • Posting promotions or wage increases
Yes - For end users to view their paychecks, it works fine. We don't use the mobile interface for anything other than that.

Paylocity Reliability

We don't really have many users that use Payocity other than our employees for their paychecks
I don't usually have issues with availablity. Some areas may have issues and it would be nice if there was a better way for Paylocity to communicate where there are issues and when they plan to have them resolved.
In most cases, I have no trouble moving from page to page.

Integrating Paylocity

Relationship with Paylocity

Sales was easy to work with
Paylocity has been fine to work with, but support is hit or miss.
Some are knowledgable others not as much and sometimes instead of helping you fix the issue will just give you some directions and expect you to try to figure it out yourself. Also, when your Account Manager needs to escliate the issue to another group, it can take a long time for them to get to your issue and there's no commuication.
Pricing seems comparible to other HRIS vendors we looked at.
Make sure that you understand what comes with your sales agreement and what doesn't
