Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We use Paylocity to run our bi-weekly payroll. Timesheets were a major issue in preparing payroll from tabulating the sheets to entering the information. It previously took me about 6 hours to run a payroll. Currently this being the 4th run on Time and Labor, it is taking much more time than that but I expect that to change drastically because this is the transition period. Hopefully get it down to 20 minutes.
Pros
- Timesheets
- Integrates with G/L system Sage Intacct
- Onboarding
- Employee Records
Cons
- Doubling up on some functionality where the second function does work
- CORI Form needs to be printed to be signed
- Searching for Reports is cumbersome
- Reduced Time
- Reduced Errors
- Consistency
The biggest change is Time and Labor. Although, we are still in the process of converting to mobile Timesheets, I see it improving with every payroll run. I can see it's value and we will reap the reward in the not so distant future.
We don't use them
Time and Labor, in my prior organizations we didn't use time and labor, I think it's a game changer.

Paylocity Feature Ratings
Using Paylocity
71 - This number represents end users (employees for T&L and documents). Actual people using it for it's employer functionality that answer would change to 4.
1 - Financial background with fair to good IT knowledge
- Employees entering their own time
- Integration with Sage Intacct
- Employees ability to retrieve their own documentation
- Onboarding documentation Stored in Paylocity
- GENERAL LEDGER INTIGRATION WITH INTACCT
- NO NEED TO PRINT AND SEND OUT W-2'S
- NO NEED TO PRINT AND SEND OUT PAYSTUBS
- Eventually would like to add all onboarding files into the system and get rid of our paper filing system
Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors
Yes - Prime Pay
- Other
Not Applicable, decision was made for me
Though wasn't involved at the time (made before I came onboard), I would use every means possible to influence the decision.
Paylocity Implementation
Not sure - I wasn't here during implementation. I have heard war stories of what happened at that time.
- Wasn't here at the time but did experience a pain point when trying do the accounting for the first Fiscal Year as my employment happened during the year it took place. This was a fiscal year end and I needed information from two different platforms.
Paylocity Training
Configuring Paylocity
Allow for easy addition to employee rates (multiple Rates)
Employees that take sick time for a doctors appointment or similar have to enter their hours first and then are allowed to enter the sick time when the events happen on the same day.
Allow Multiple cost scenters on the same day
Employees that take sick time for a doctors appointment or similar have to enter their hours first and then are allowed to enter the sick time when the events happen on the same day.
Allow Multiple cost scenters on the same day
Yes - we have added extensive custom code - We have multiple cost centers for teachers that do After School activities. They were difficult to add and the Paylocity Project Manager had to add them
Any customizing was done by Paylocity or the Archdiocese of Boston
Paylocity Support
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Quick Resolution Good followup Knowledgeable team Kept well informed Immediate help available Support understands my problem Support cares about my success Quick Initial Response | Problems left unsolved Escalation required |
I believe we do have this product but it was not my decision so I do not have an opinion
Recently, I was struggling to void a check, called support and was through it in three steps. Immediately I realized I needed to void a second one called right back, got the same person and she walked me through it a second time without judgement.

- Easy JE into Intacct
- Reports
- Cost Centers Time & Labor
- Voiding Checks
Yes - I have had employees struggle but it started getting better as they used it more. School ended and we had to start over at the beginning of September. Many of the same struggles started all over again. I suspect in a short period of time things will be moving smoothly.
Paylocity Reliability
Integrating Paylocity
- Intacct
Journal Entry for each Payroll run. It's very accurate and when it's not it is User Error. I'm very satisfied with this integration and it helps when Bank Statement time comes around
- File import/export
Everyone should do it because it's very easy and save a lot of time
Relationship with Paylocity
Not involved with negotiations
After the sale has been executed the support is great
Upgrading Paylocity
- Time & Labor reduced time to run payroll
- Onboarding very effective. Like storing all the onboarding doc's in Paylocity's Cloud
- Easier to add cost centers to employees time cards
