Overall Satisfaction with TeamViewer

I use TeamViewer to remotely access the computers of other staff members when I am offsite. It was especially helpful when teaching remotely as I was able to support and fix most problems on staff computers without physically needing to see the device. This saved countless hours and ensured that children's education was able to continue despite being unable to attend school due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • Remotely access colleagues computers while offsite
  • Offer tech support more effectively as I'm able to physically control the device
  • Passwords and Ids are simple and easy to have staff locate and share
  • I find that when using TeamViewer to connect to a Mac, typing does not work completely accurately
  • It could be easier to set up connections to trusted computers that don't require passwords each time although I understand this would be a security risk
  • Could possibly include a video chat feature to make the person whose computer is being controlled more comfortable that they can trust the person
  • TeamViewer is relatively inexpensive meaning that tech support is able to be offered remotely cutting down on technician travel costs.
  • TeamViewer is free for personal use making it an easy choice when it comes to offering technical support for elderly friends and family
  • TeamViewer has meant quicker fixing of issues meaning less downtime for staff and therefore children are able to benefit from working computers in class more often
I find that TeamViewer is easy to install and set up on most devices. It is free (for personal use) which gives it an edge over Apple Remote Desktop. It is also available to access Windows and Mac computers which is an edge over Apple Remote Desktop. Chrome Remote Desktop requires users to have a Google account in order to use, whereas TeamViewer does not.

Yes

Did TeamViewer live up to sales and marketing promises?

Would you buy TeamViewer again?

Yes

TeamViewer is quick and easy to install on many Windows devices using a .msi file. This makes rolling it out to offer support to many users very quick and easy to do providing that they are all Windows users. TeamViewer is also easy to install on Mac but due to Mac security settings, it requires a little extra work to provide full access. TeamViewer is easy to install on Chromebooks but unfortunately, it can only be used for controlling other computers, not for being controlled.
These security features did not have a huge impact on our decision to use TeamViewer. They are good features to have and they certainly make security staff feel that our systems are more secure but the average user would not be able to identify any of the security features mentioned above.
TeamViewer is fantastic for accessing colleagues' computers if they are using a PC or a Mac. Provided that the user has a stable internet connection that is not hampered by any network limitations, it is very easy to make a connection and control a computer remotely. TeamViewer is not able to remotely control a Chromebook which would be a really handy feature although I understand that this isn't possible due to Chromebook limitations.
