Overall Satisfaction with TriNet

We use TriNet for their PEO services, so this includes payroll and benefits. We're a completely remote company, so benefit offerings are a huge factor for us.

Pros

  • Medical Carrier Options
  • Medical Plan Options

Cons

  • Payroll
  • Customer Service
  • In my opinion, system works like it is from 2005
  • Complicated payroll processing
  • Lack of information for leave management
  • decent benefit offerings
  • Time consuming payroll processing days
In my experience, the system is outdated and reporting is cumbersome. We are using a workaround for time tracking because TriNet doesn't provide sufficient time off reports for us. In my experience, the system is so rigid that no one can make changes without 20 people being involved.
I avoid customer service as much as possible. In my experience, only basic questions can be answered. In my opinion, the direct service team isn't that knowledgeable, so it takes time for anyone you directly contact to get any information.
I didn't select TriNet, it was at my organization when I got here. No one at TriNet gave my company information on how hard it is to move companies in the middle of the quarter. Even UKG did that. I think that every other system works better.

Do you think TriNet delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with TriNet's feature set?

No

Did TriNet live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of TriNet go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy TriNet again?

No

In my opinion, if you only pay employees a salary and have no changes at all - TriNet is ok. If you have to contact TriNet for anything, be prepared to be frustrated. They charge a $250 wire fee each time there is a payroll, even when an extra payroll isn't needed. The system is outdated and reporting is cumbersome. We are using a workaround for time tracking because TriNet doesn't provide sufficient time off reports for us. The system is so rigid that no one can make changes without 20 people being involved. The only thing TriNet gives their support team is the ability to send, in my opinion, condescending emails about how long things take to get processed.

This information is incorrect. My issues are with the system and the rigid policies in place that are not customer oriented. You charge a $250 wire fee for any kind of transaction that occurs, and there are many randomly applied transactions without any warning or approval from us. We just had one for a benefit premium return to an employee right after we finish processing payroll. This shouldn’t have been separated from the normal payroll run. The response to help us is to get auto draft set up which we can’t do and I’ve explained this to our contacts for the 2 1/2 years we’ve been with them. We recently had a payroll issue with someone that was one leave. I was notified she returned while we in the middle of finalizing payroll. They said the payroll code had to be correct for compliance purposes in order for us to process payroll with her included. In what they call an immediate response time, took them over five hours to update her lease status to change the payroll code because they said she couldn’t be paid while she was on a paid leave under her current status. The response to improving the situation was for me to have told them the employee returned prior to payroll processing when I didn’t know until that moment, so ESP. When we tried to pull report to go to another organization, I asked for dependent information, only date of birth and gender. The response was due to HIPAA, they couldn’t give me that information. However, I can go on each employee‘s personal profile and see the information I needed to report. This is also not a HIPAA related issue. It’s just the policy that they don’t allow us to report on the information because we have less than 50 people and don’t have to complete ACA Reporting. We give off 8 days in December for winter break. The holiday calendar only allows single day entries for customs days and doesn’t allow copying from the prior year.
