Overall Satisfaction with TriNet

[...] depends on TriNet to manage our payroll and employee benefits, providing our personnel with top-quality insurance options and other benefits. Further, they facilitate hiring and employment regulations across the several states where we have staff. They have also greatly simplified for us the on-boarding process for foreign employees working on student visas and given us confidence that we are following all applicable regulations correctly. The TriNet online platform offers us a one-stop login for all our HR needs and reporting.

  • Responds quickly and effectively to inquiries through both the chat or phone options.
  • Customizes the payroll approval process to meet our needs.
  • Offers a forum that allows us to connect with other small businesses in the TriNet network to crowdsource recommendations for a range of business issues.

Cons

  • The online interface for the annual benefits strategy is difficult to navigate and not intuitive.
  • Sometimes the payroll processing division provides explanations that are not very clear or accessible to non-HR professionals.
  • The cost of the service is at the higher end of the market offerings.
  • TriNet has raised the level of professionalism for our organization by having a really good platform that provides employees and management with easy data entry and reporting infrastructure.
  • I am sure that the benefits that TriNet offers have helped us recruit and retain excellent staff.
  • TriNet has reduced the time and energy spent on onboarding new employees.
The system usability is very good, with the exception of the annual benefits strategy website, which does not provide good direction on how to navigate through the process. We have often struggled with trying to find the information about all of our employees, and to be certain that we have actually completed the process. The system has improved a bit over time, but it is still the weak link in my opinion.
The support is generally very good. Both the chat and the phone systems are answered quickly by people who speak excellent English and are well trained to help. The case system makes it easy to follow up on pending matters. The only times I have struggled is trying to communicate effectively with the payroll staff. Sometimes I just don't understand the terminology they use when they are explaining things to me.
TriNet offers a much wider set of services and their quality is much more consistent.

I have recommended TriNet to other start-ups and small businesses that I think would be a good fit for this service. This includes companies who have employees in more than one location; have prioritized employee benefits to increase retentions; and can afford the service. I am excited that TriNet can now support companies with employees outside the United States as well.
