Overall Satisfaction with Wrike

I'm a Learning Experience Designer on the Talent Development team. We use Wrike to manage the ADDIE cycle of training development, keeping track of tasks, progress, and occasionally looping in stakeholders (although usually that's just via email).

Pros

  • It's detailed and has a decent UI.
  • The Mac app seems to work well, or at least comparably to the web version.
  • Wrike forms function really well for requests.

Cons

  • It's over-engineered and there's nothing you can do about it. This prevents my team from using it more frequently. monday.com hits a homerun in this area.
  • It's not intuitive enough for simple task creation/to-do lists. I often use Google Sheets because Wrike doesn't allow me to drop most of the unnecessary fields.
  • We had to set up an automation to automatically assign new tasks to the person who creates them by default. Otherwise, there'd be no assignee.
  • Due to the reasons I mentioned previously in this survey, it offers no return on our overall business objectives.
I have not used these features. Trying to do basic stuff in Wrike and feeling frustrated by its unnecessary number of fields has inhibited my use of the platform.
As I previously mentioned, it's overwhelming with a lot of things no one on my team needs to use.
monday.com and Asana both offer more straightforward customization and, therefore, simplicity that make them much easier to use for teams like mine who do not typically manage large projects, but instead maintain smaller task lists that are frequently updated.

Do you think Wrike delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Wrike's feature set?

No

Did Wrike live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Wrike go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Wrike again?

No

It's not terrible, but in my opinion, there are way too many fields for some teams to use, and it's not simple enough to delete the fields. It's only helpful in managing large projects where the initial effort is worth it. It's not a good daily driver like monday.com or Asana. Wrike is plagued by what I believe is also contributing to Microsoft Word's loss to Google Docs in the workplace. There's just too much going on, and many users have relatively simple project management needs. Less is more for my team's project management needs, and there's no simple way to eliminate all the unnecessary fields. It should be designed in the opposite direction. The interface should default to a few fields, and more advanced users can add what they need. My company's Wrike admin set up a dashboard for me that I like, but to add to it, the process is this: 1. Click + 2. Select "Task" 3—change location from "Personal" so my team can see it 4. Select a new location so the task doesn't disappear somewhere 5. Add task details 6. Assign to myself 7. Please select dates to prevent it from disappearing into the abyss. That's why I use a Google Sheet. That is not an intuitive process for tasks
