I can only mention where AB Tasty has been useful as I haven't had negative experiences on the tests we have carried out. A useful scenario for us is that we use AB Tasty to test changes on pages in a test environment instead of having to test on live

1. We changed ship dates on individual product pages depending on customer location so they would have an accurate timeline for their orders. This really helped lower our volume of customer service calls on tracking orders.2. We have stores as well as an online presence. With Target we were able to advertise sales on b-stock items from our warehouse to our local customers without letting those that live outside a certain radius see the promo.3. If your marketing team doesn't have a tech background this software has a steep learning curve. There is quite a bit of manual configuration required. The image carousel is one example that we struggled with.

Pros

  • Ab tasty helped us to very easily create promotional pop-ups to highlight our gift with purchase operations. It allows us to be very prompt in launching a gift and promoting it.
  • We had some refresh to do on our portrait version on tablet, and AB tasty helped us to target the tablet in portrait, and to display a message suggesting to pivot the tablet to have better navigation. It helped us to avoid having to do development to display this message.
  • We had really different point of view regarding up-selling banners. AB tasty helped us to create an AB test allowing us to compare conversion rate and average basket with respect to the up-selling banner was displayed or not, and helped us make a decision thanks to concrete results.

Cons

  • Maybe some editor functionalities could be directly accessible from the homepage, like the amount of traffic you give to a test.
  • The functionality that allows you to point the whole traffic through a variation while keeping the measure of results is not that easy to set up compared to the editor tool. It could be even more intuitive by copying the set up of the initial test.
  • Reports loading can sometimes be quite long when we have a lot of traffic (that point has been improved but is not yet perfect).

Internal challenges, as well as lack of support from the Adobe team make it a tough decision to prove the value of the tool: We struggled with organizing a team of stakeholders internally to own and manage the product - which contributed to being able to make full use of the tool and prove its value. We reached out to Adobe for support, but they weren't able to provide us help internally (which was understood). We struggled with overall support from Adobe and had a few switches in terms of account managers/contacts from Adobe that did not help us stay on track either.

The instructor that came to train us was awesome and this training was very useful. I would recommend it for anyone who is going to be using this software. I only mark it lower because it is an added expense to an already expensive product, and a lot of the training covered the "Target" portion of the software (which again, we didn't use)

The training was very easy to understand, however it would have been more useful to my development team than me. It was also primarily over-the-phone, which is never as easy to follow as in-person. We ended up scheduling and paying for an in-person training session to supplement the online/phone training because it wasn't helpful enough.

Alternatives Considered

We selected AB Tasty after using Google Analytics because setting up tests on Google's free test was not as easy and the results were not very precise. We had illogical results due to the way tests were set up on the tool so we chose a more reliable tool with flexibility for the marketing team. Our website technical architecture can sometimes be complex and AB Tasty was the only tool with a french support team that allowed us to set up the tests we needed

  • Increase conversion rate and revenue
  • Reduce conflicts inside the company (should the button be green or red?)
  • Gain time of development : some changes can be made directly in the tool, and once the variation is validated, we can apply it for all users directly via the tool, to give the time to the developers to develop it.
