Additional DetailsISL Online's pricing model considers the number of licenses purchased, which determines the maximum number of concurrent users within the organization. A concurrent user is defined as anyone running one or more sessions simultaneously from any device. There are no restrictions on the number of ISL Light users within a company or the remote devices managed. For example, with three licenses, an unlimited number of people in a company can use ISL Light and can access an unlimited number of remote devices, but only three users can use it concurrently. When one of these three users ends their session, a fourth user can begin their session, and so on.

[Action1 Cloud Remote Monitoring and Management Solution is a] really great tool for organizations looking at a solution that doesn't rely on on-premise infrastructure to manage multiple sites or work-from-home devices. As long as the endpoints are connected to the internet they will show as online in the system.

ISL Light is great because it is convenient and easy to use. It shows all the important information in one place - where the customer is located, contact information, we can upload images, various files. It is also great because we can see what the customer types before sending us a question - this way we can prepare for the question more easily and possibly see things in advance. For this reason, ISL would be recommended to everyone. It is also great because it alerts us to a new message from the customer and also to the fact that we still have to respond to them. Pros
Action1
  • Easy remote access to devices. That simple. We have some very unskilled users in the field where asking them to access their PC via conventional remote tools like TeamViewer, Anydesk, etc. was always a pain. Now, all they have to do is ensure their PC is online, and we can connect to them.
  • Remote software deploy. Before Action1, we did have some GPOs and scripts, but again - being able to deploy to PCs outside of our office/LAN, is just beautiful. On top of the standard repository, being able to create new packages is very useful for our scenario.
  • Inventory Reporting. Recently we had to identify PCs running old versions of Windows. Can't highlight enough how easy it is.

  • Allow remote control of Windows, Mac, Android and iOS
  • Automatically record support / remote sessions
  • Allow UAC easy control remotely
  • Auto-recognize the OS of the client, to download the correct remote file for them to execute
  • Very fast connection speed (initial connect, and on-going session speed)
  • Allowing us to use our own website AND the islonline.net in case there are issues

Cons
Action1
  • Lots of times Action1 will identify a program that needs to be patched, but then not really have a path laid out to get that done...so they just remain as they are, but are tagged as such.
  • Really wants to replace the windows update mechanism. Resists (or did at least) you if you try to keep updates as they are and update occasionally from Action1
  • Could develop the scripts section a bit more, looked pretty sparse last time I checked it out.

  • Need a control toggle at least on AlwaysOn. User moves the mouse and you lose all control instantly.
  • Clipboard features are a bit wonky still, and your clipboard seems to get emptied a lot. So if you're trying to copy and paste you might lose something
  • Passwords for the systems are saved per machine, so if you work from multiple devices it can be tricky if you have complex passwords

Usability
Action1
Agent deployment is simple (and silent) - once that is done, you're good to go. Everything is simple, centralized and very easy to work with. There isn't one aspect of this platform that requires crawling over forums and Google, it just works!

It is very easy to use. You hardly need any computer knowledge to learn how to use it, as everything is displayed in easily recognizable icons. Although its appearance does not look cutting-edge, it could have a more modern look, but it must be said that everything is understandable, and with just a couple of taps on each icon that appears, you already know what each thing is for, and it allows you to use it skillfully and fluidly. Everything is perfect in this regard.

Alternatives Considered
Action1
Action1 excels with patch management and their ability to show if applications have been marked as vulnerable. It is also hard to beat their free model where the first 200 are free. When I first started with Action1 it was only 50 endpoints so seeing that expand so much is awesome.

Multi-monitor handling is super easy with ISL Light. The licensing model of ISL Light's self-hosted version is unbeatable. Great technical support, which often used before I purchased. The unbelievable price increase during and after the covid time of remote tools, has ended, when I found ISL Light. ISL Light is really a underdog in the remote utility market. I'm glad that I found it.
